Driver III at LAPSSET

The LAPSSET Corridor Program is the first single Gigantic, Integrated, Transformative and Game-Changer infrastructure Project the Government has initiated and prepared under Vision 2030 Strategy Framework without external assistance. The project endeavors to deliver a Just and Prosperous middle income Kenya by the year 2030. Kenya is spearheading the development of Lamu Port-South Sudan-Ethiopia-Transport (LAPSSET) Corridor Project to strengthen her position as a gateway and a transport and logistics hub to the East African sub-region and the Great Lakes region to facilitate trade, promote regional economic integration and inter-connectivity between African countries.

Duties and Responsibilities.

This is the entry grade into the driver’s cadre. Duties and responsibilities at this level will involve driving a motor vehicle as authorized; carrying out routine checks on the vehicle’s cooling, oil, electrical and brake systems, tire pressure, etc.; detecting and reporting malfunction of vehicle systems; maintenance of work tickets for vehicles assigned; ensuring security and safety for the vehicle on and off the road; safety of the passengers and/or good therein; and maintain cleanliness of the vehicle.

Requirements for Appointment.

For appointment to this grade, the candidate must have:

1. Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) mean grade D (plain or its equivalent qualification;


2. A valid driving license free from any current endorsement(s) for classes of vehicle(s) an officer is required to drive;


3. Attended a First –Aid Certificate course lasting not less than one (1) week at St. John Ambulance or Kenya Institute of Highway and Building Technology (KIHBT) or other recognized Institution;


4. Passed suitability Test for Driver Grade III;


5. A current Certificate of Good conduct from the Kenya Police; and


6. At least two (2) years driving experience.
