Accountant Job. Adept Management Consultants.

Our client is an independent oil and gas exploration and production company listed on the Main Board of the London Stock Exchange. Focused on Africa with operations in several African countries; the Group’s strategy is to consolidate on its position as the premier pure-play exploration and production independent in Africa, through indigenous partnerships and strategic acquisitions.

It recently acquired key exploration opportunities in East Africa to substantially increase its reserves base and unlock further EA opportunities.

The Group is now looking to fill the position of an Accountant to provide accounting assistance and order, ensuring regular processing and payment of invoices for services and materials needed in a preparatory project work.

# Responsibilities
* Daily cash management and maintaining office petty cash.
* Processing and payment of local Kenyan shilling invoices. Ensuring local cash requirements are met through monthly submission of cash calls to Dubai/London.
* Processing of USD invoices for seismic, drilling and materials for payment either by Dubai or London. Ensuring invoices are as per approved contracts.
* Monthly reconciliation of Bank accounts.
* Calculation and processing of national salaries.
* Calculation of local and expatriate taxes and ensuring timely payment to the respective authorities, and maintenance of records.
* Filing of monthly VAT and withholding tax returns, obtaining tax exemptions from relevant body.
* Maintain Kenya office and field fixed assets register.
* Maintain inventory system for casing and drilling equipment and accurate recording of movement of materials, to and from the drilling rig, and input into the accounting system.
* Prepare and carry out stock takes of inventory and fixed assets.
* During drilling operations, maintain well reconciliations (casing, drilling bits, mud, cement etc).
* Prepare and monitor costs on seismic, drilling, other fixed assets.
* Monitor costs against the Budget and explain variances.
* Filing and maintaining corporate documentation up to date.

Requirements
o Business degree in Accounting or Finance
o Professional qualification in ACCA or CPA.
o A thorough understanding of accounting concepts and financial procedures for development partners
o Experience from Oil and Gas industry preferred.
o IT literate including MS Office;
o Ability to work to tight deadlines in a pressurized environment and prioritize workloads effectively.
o A methodical and accurate approach to work with strong attention to detail.
o A strong team player.
