Context/Scope:
EABL is the leading drinks company in Eastern Africa with a wide portfolio of products in beer, spirits, malt and other non-alcoholic drinks. EABL is quoted on all the 3 East African stock exchanges and has operations in Eastern Africa with a turnover of over Kshs. 40bn. It is one of the largest business units in Diageo Africa, and directly operates 5 breweries, 1 distillery, a glass factory as well as a barley & malting facility.
This role will work closely with Exec members, Board members, Regional and Global Diageo Leadership, Commercial Managers & Functional Heads.
Leadership Responsibilities:
This role has responsibility over spearheading the optimization of EABL's financial performance and has 2 direct reports, Group Record to Report Manager and Group Tax & Treasury Manager, and a team of 9. Responsibilities include but not limited to;
.Wide range of internal stakeholders from Market MD/FD to Group FD and Group MD - the job holder will be expected to challenge senior management where necessary. Job holder will have strong functional influence across EABL
.A key finance Business Partner to all markets. Responsibility for the full functional agenda across sales and marketing, as well as supply and functions, and ensuring that all parts of the organization are aligned to the business goals and objectives
.Functional leadership in the strategic and operational matters in tax and treasury across the Group;
. Maintaining strong relationships with external stakeholders auditors and professional advisors
.Lead role in the development of finance capability across markets
Purpose of Role:
To support the team in monthly systems reporting FD's and Support in coordination of preparation of statutory financial statements for EABL Group which are done at HY and FY.
TOP Accountabilities:
Finance Management
.Ensure that a world class business performance management and strategic planning process is operating across the region
.Ensure all monthly accounting/finance and control processes requirements for business and centre are met, in conjunction with the African Shared Business Centre
.Ensure statutory & management reporting requirements are met.
.Enhance forecasting and planning processes.
Business Management
.Constructively challenge, input and maximize value in key business areas and drive exceptional business performance (raise the bar).
.Provide key enablers for Business Performance Management and decision making process (systems / reporting).
.Provide tools for delivery of strategy to action and Mission Analysis.
.Drive gap analysis and risk/opportunity identification.
.Participate, influence and add value in business issues. Highlight and action potential opportunities and risks.
.Ensure full compliance with Tax statutes by ensuring that taxes are correctly computed and paid on time. Ensure adherence to the Global Tax Policy and that those who need to comply with its requirements receive appropriate training.
People Performance
.Coach and develop own team plus others across organization.
.Align/upgrade team capabilities to business agenda & build cross functional team working skills.
.Build relationships externally & internally.
Qualifications and Experience Required:
.Degree qualified, with a finance qualification.
.Extensive post-qualification experience in an FMCG company or large developing market (at least 5 years).
.Significant amount of time in a finance leadership role, strong technical accounting skills necessary.
.Highly developed influencing skills capable of communicating the big picture in approachable language and motivating people across all levels and functions in the business.
.Strong commercial acumen, broad business perspective and understanding of the importance of customers - a hands on and in depth understanding of the nuts and bolts of a business
.Self starter with high levels of energy & commitment.
