Adept Systems Job Summary:

Our client is a for-profit company that provides management services and oversight to community based financial institutions (Financial Service Associations (FSA)) to empower low income populations across the country. Our client also provides effective and efficient management and technical services in operations management, financial management and accounting, product development and management information systems amongst others.

The FSA’s are soon to be regulated by SASRA (SACCO Societies Regulatory Authority) and in a bid to ensure that there are effective and adequate governance, risk and compliance mechanisms in place in the entire network, they would like to recruit a Risk and Compliance Officer.

Under the supervision of the Board Audit and Risk committee and the CEO, he/she will be responsible for determining the strategic, tactical and operational risk appetite within KFS and across the FSA network.

The ideal candidate will be a professional who has demonstrated interest in our client’s mission and upholds the values of integrity, effective corporate governance, innovation, customer focus and team work.

Key Responsibilities:

Spearhead the establishment and operationalisation of a fully fledged Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) function in line with financial services’ industry best practice

Champion implementation and automation of Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) best practices in line with the established Sacco ERM Maturity Roadmap.

Establish, implement and monitor the execution of integrated risk management strategy frameworks and policies as well as mitigation strategies for for KfS and the FSAs

Develop and institutionalise through key risk management specialisms, including but not limited to strategic and reputational risk management, credit risk management, operational risk management, liquidity risk management, interest rate risk management, capital risk management

Spearhead the development and utilisation of a Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) framework for key strategic business functions and units.

Guide the alignment and integration of the KFS/FSA’s Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) framework with the KfS/FSAs business, financial and human performance management systems

Develop and promote awareness, ownership and accountability of key Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) principles, concepts, strategies, metrics and deliverables and ensure the effective functioning of key risk management organs such as the Risk Champions Network (RCN), the Risk Management Committee (RMC), and the proposed FSA Board Risk Committee (BRC).

Lead and drive periodic and continuous risk assessment activities across the business, provide relevant recommendations, work with key business and process owners, establish and follow-through on the implementation of key rapid risk response and mitigation mechanisms

Champion the establishment and operationalisation of an all-encompassing business continuity planning and management framework

Serve as the custodian of the Society-wide Enterprise Risk Register and ensure regular reporting, tracking and treatment of identified risks. Ensure that KFS/FSA’s governance, risk management and control systems are functioning as intended to ensure attainment of organizational objectives

Establish and foster appropriate linkages with other internal and external governance, risk and assurance service providers for further improvement of the KFS/FSA’s governance, risk and compliance frameworks.

Prepare, present and submit reports as required to the regulator, Board Audit and Risk Committee and to the senior management team.
Adept Systems Job Key Qualifications and Skills

A degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Banking, Finance or Economics.

Possess professional qualification such as ACCA, CPA (K), CISA and a registered member of ICPAK.

Certified risk and compliance accreditations shall be an added advantage;

A minimum of five (5) years working experience, Two (2) of which must be in risk management and process implementation.

Comprehensive knowledge of ERM concepts, financial systems and process audit

High analytical skills to be able to challenge status quo based on qualitative facts and impacts.

Demonstrate resilience to withstand strategic, tactical and operational challenges and maintain momentum.

Demonstrate high emotional and intelligence levels
