Position: Port Supervisor and Assistant Operations Manager

General Area of Responsibility
- Overall co-ordination of all airfreight, seafreight, Warehousing and road operations, including transit at all ports, CFSs and border stations from Mombasa.
- Ensuring compliance with all governments, other stakeholders and Customs regulations
- Ensuring profitability of every file opened. Keeping Operational costs are kept to the minimum.
- Responsible for all technical matters and issues raised by customs in Mombasa.
- Overall in- charge of all active shipments in Mombasa and including allocation of jobs to staff on a day to day basis.
- Responsible and cordinates all all transportation of cargo within Mombasa and onto all destinations including out of Kenya.
Specific Areas of Responsibility
- Coordinating Opening of all job files for both Imports and Export jobs. Making a close follow ups for arrival and exit of ALL Mombasa shipments.
- Coordination with declaration team in Nairobi and documentation with both customs and other relevant parties
- Ensuring all required documents received and processed as per standard level agreements (SLA)
- Monitor clearance of cargo to make sure cleared within the free period. Follow up till delivery and return of interchanges and Invoices from the respective suppliers.
- Making sure Cargo update reports are prepared and sent to the Customer Service Department, Agents and clients as applicable.
- Handling Customer correspondences especially on technical matters in collaboration with the Declaration Manager and team in Nairobi.
- Handling all matters with Customs departments and any other stakeholders in Mombasa including the Port/ CFS authorities.
- Responsible for monitoring and cancellation of bonds. Follow up where applicable with the monitoring of stocks, re-warehousing, and general advise to clients ( both internal and external on bond processes) for Mombasa activities.
- Responsible for all staff in your department and making sure they adhere to the company laid down policies, mission and Vision.
Key Performance Areas
- Ensure SOPs in place and adhered to by all staff including self.
- Ensuring all cargo cleared within the shortest period and storage free where documents provided in advance.
