Top Private Universities Favored By Kenyan Employers

As the number of universities continues to grow in Kenya, graduates can only hope to secure a chance in the competitive work force. The rising number of these learning institutions has also seen a rise in the private universities.
However, not all graduates, particularly in private universities will be so lucky in terms of job prospects as Kenyan employers tend to be choosy in determining the best candidates.
In a recent survey carried out by Corporate Staffing Services, Kenyan employers prefer candidates from selected private universities.
The survey revealed some of the reasons for preferring candidates from the universities is the reputation of the university in terms of specialization, years of existence and society involvement
Furthermore, the survey sought to identify the preferred private universities by employers.
Top 8 Private Universities Preferred By Kenyan Employers
1. Strathmore University
Strathmore University is the most preferred private university by 78% of the respondents. According to the survey, it is one of the highest ranked private universities in Kenya.
Strathmore has a reputation as being the best in terms of business as well as information technology. The university was also ranked as the best private institution in the continental list ranking.
2. Daystar University
The university has a reputation of producing the best graduates in communication follows with a 58%. Daystar University is one of the most recognized universities East Africa and also ranked among the top in the continent.
3. The Catholic University of Eastern Africa
Coming in third with a 49%, the university’s main mission is to promote excellence in research, teaching and community service by preparing morally upright leaders based on the intellectual tradition of the Catholic Church.
4. The United States International University
This university closely follows with a 45% offers the best courses in International Relations courses. Graduates from the university are perceived to excel in international as well as nonprofit organizations.
5. Kenya Methodist University
The private Christian university which has a 17% backing aims to be a world class Christian University keen on raising a generation of professionals and transformational leaders.
The university offers a wide range of IT related courses and was awarded charter in 2006 by former president Mwai Kibaki.
5. Mount Kenya University
The Mount Kenya University is fifth with a 13% . With its main campus Located in Thika town in the outskirts of Kenya’s capital Nairobi, the Mount Kenya University is transforming an industrial town into an educational hub.
The university also offers a wide-range of academic and professional courses,through various flexible modes that include virtual learning,evening classes, weekend classes and School based.
6. University of Eastern Africa, Baraton
The University of Eastern Africa, Baraton which lies at an approximate 7% is a private Seventh-day Adventist university located about 50 km from Eldoret Kenya.
It offers various degrees in a number of graduate and undergraduate programs in the fields of Business, the Humanities, Agriculture, Technology, Health Sciences and Education.
7. Africa Nazarene University
Known for producing the best graduates who uphold character and integrity of heart, the private university comes last with a 5%. The university’s website reveals that the learning institution will be a place where lives will be transformed for service and leadership to make a difference in Africa and the world.
