Technical Directors for Value Chain Development: Dairy, Horticulture, and Grains

Chemonics International seeks three value chain technical directors for the Kenya Agricultural Value Chain Enterprises Project, a five-year, $35-$40 million anticipated USAID-funded project under the U.S. Government’s Feed the Future (FtF) Initiative in Kenya. 

This project will assist the Government of Kenya in improving the competitiveness of selected agricultural value chains with the overall goal of increasing the productivity and incomes of smallholder farmers and other actors along the value chain, thereby enhancing food security and improving nutrition. Responsibilities will include developing and implementing an innovative agricultural growth value chain development program – from production and post harvest to processing and marketing – and working with all related technical teams. Technical directors will also liaise with local stakeholders including government technical officials, local and regional agribusiness firms, producer organizations, and agriculture-related private sector actors and service providers. Chemonics International is looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world and demonstrate leadership, versatility, and integrity in their work.

Qualifications:

Master’s degree or equivalent experience in agricultural economics, marketing, post-harvest handling, agribusiness management or a related field Minimum 10 years of international experience with successful value chain projects in the agricultural sector of value chain development, including value chain facilitation, agribusiness, marketing and financial services, or  private sector development.Demonstrated success in implementing projects aimed at increasing the competitiveness and inclusiveness of value chains using facilitation approaches.Established relationships with and/or substantive knowledge of international agribusiness firms preferred.Familiarity with information and communication technology applications for agriculture value chain development desired.Excellent written and oral communication skills.East African experience is preferred but not required.Fluency in English, Kiswahili desired.Kenyan or expatriate candidates encouraged to apply.Application Instructions: Send cover letter, resume and a list of three references to chemonics.kenya@gmail.com by June 29, 2012. No telephone inquiries, please. Only finalists will be contacted.Related Posts Widget for Blogger
