Technical Directors for Value Chain Development: Dairy, Horticulture, and Grains

Chemonics International seeks three value chain technical directors for the Kenya Agricultural Value Chain Enterprises Project, a five-year, $35-$40 million anticipated USAID-funded project under the U.S. Government’s Feed the Future (FtF) Initiative in Kenya. 

This project will assist the Government of Kenya in improving the competitiveness of selected agricultural value chains with the overall goal of increasing the productivity and incomes of smallholder farmers and other actors along the value chain, thereby enhancing food security and improving nutrition. Responsibilities will include developing and implementing an innovative agricultural growth value chain development program – from production and post harvest to processing and marketing – and working with all related technical teams. Technical directors will also liaise with local stakeholders including government technical officials, local and regional agribusiness firms, producer organizations, and agriculture-related private sector actors and service providers. Chemonics International is looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world and demonstrate leadership, versatility, and integrity in their work.

Qualifications:

Role and responsibility: The Dairy Enterprise Development Expert will be responsible for
activities related to the creation and implementation of value chain development strategies. In
this senior leadership role, he/she will work with project’s technical teams, various livestock
related private sector actors and service providers and livestock related government technical
officials.

While final technical areas and specific responsibilities will be defined upon securing of funding
from USAID, following are the key expected areas of focus for this position:

•Value chain strategy development
o Develop clearly articulated and fact-based strategy for dairy, meat and hides,
skins & leather value chain interventions in collaboration with other implementing
partners, ensuring that strategy supports overall broader program objectives and
goals for meat and animal, dairy and hides, skins and leather value chains
o Lead rigorous and ongoing industry assessments to identify new industry and
client opportunities, with a focus on end-market analyses
o Maintain understanding of current global best practices related to market-driven
value chain development and the specified livestock value chains, ensure that
these are shared with staff and partners and actively incorporated into strategies
and work streams

•Value chain intervention planning
o Break down strategies into well-defined work streams and ensure that the scope
and projected impact of all work streams are correctly defined and understood
o Ensure that all work streams have a detailed work plan which identifies,
prioritizes and sequences the activities required for successful delivery
o Ensure sufficient resources are mobilized

•External representation
o Develop and sustain trust-based relationships with key stakeholders, including
other initiatives and interventions
o Leverage knowledge of key stakeholders to secure buy-in to ideas and initiatives
o Provide intellectual leadership in helping team members identify and develop
business and industry-wide value chain improvement strategies
Requirements:

* Have a minimum of 7 years experience at senior management level in a fairly large Organization preferably in FMCG.

Production Manager
The Production Manager will provide leadership and performance efficiencies for production department aligned with the strategic business objectives.

Minimum Qualifications:
* Degree in Dairy/Food science and Technology from a recognized institution
* At least 5 years experience as a Production Supervisor in a FMCG manufacturing factory.
* Previous experience in dairy industry will be an added advantage.

Internal Auditor
Reporting functionally to the central management committee and administratively to the General Manager, the Internal Auditor will be responsible for assisting management and the Board in the effective discharge of their responsibilities by furnishing them with reports containing analysis, recommendations, counsel and information concerning the activities/operations reviewed including risk Management systems and governance.

Minimum Qualifications:
* University degree in commerce, Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field or be a Certified Public Accountant ( CPA – K ) / ACCA
* 3 years experience, two of which must be in external or internal Audit

ICT Administrator
Reporting to the Finance Manager, the successful candidate shall oversee the implementation of ICT policy through proactive needs analysis, systems integration and efficient user support.

Minimum Qualifications:
* Bachelors Degree or Diploma in Computer Science or Information Technology.
* Post graduate qualifications in business related studies will be an added advantage.

UHT Lab Technician

Job Purpose: To ensure that all UHT milk production process proceed within the required specifications.

The applicant should possess the following qualifications:

1 SALES ASSISTANTS
Job purpose: To ensure timely delivery of our products to the market and timely stock reconciliations. Ensure proper handling of crates to minimize breakages and accurate crates stock reconciliations.

The applicant should posses the following academic qualifications and competencies:-
