The Head of Finance and Strategy will be responsible to the Managing Director for provision of leadership and strategic direction to the company’s financial, growth and strategic initiatives.
The Head of Finance and Strategy will be expected to provide sound financial advice to the management team and to the Board through the Chief Executive.Specific duties and responsibilities will entail:Ensuring that an appropriate financial policy framework, procedures and systems are in place and periodically reviewed to reinforce and sustain the integrity of financial systems.Ensure that the appropriate processes are in place to maintain the long-term financial viability of the company, advising the Chief Executive and Management on the financial consequences of proposed actions. Prepare the annual and Strategic period budgets to ensure implementation of the company’s strategy and to facilitate growth and resource allocation.Oversee the preparation and keeping of the Company’s books of account; including regular management accounts and financial forecasts for decision making and facilitate forward planning of operations.Ensuring that appropriate risk management techniques, cost management and financial controls are embedded throughout the company for realization of the Company’s bottom line as per approved budgets.Overseeing the management of investments, providing analysis and reports to the Board for decision making. Direct the preparation of the statutory annual accounts and liaise with the Company Secretary to ensure timely filing of Annual and other statutory returns. Maintain relationships with suppliers, bankers, insurance firms and agents, investment managers, pension advisers, auditors and other stakeholders to ensure continuity of Company operations. Implement the company’s credit management policy to safeguard company assets and ensure efficient cash flow management.Support the Chief HR and Admin Officer in meeting the HR objectives. Analyze financial and operational results versus forecasts to identify the root cause of significant variances, communicating findings to heads of department for change and risk mitigation. Develop background information to assess the potential impact of strategic initiatives on company operations. Analyze and track implementation of business contracts with various partners, providing routine report on implementation lapses and the financial consequence of each.Desired Skills and Experience
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or similar field required; Graduate degree or comparable experience preferred. A masters degree will be an added advantage. Must be a Member of ICPA(K) of good standing.5 – 7 years’ experience, with at least three (3) in a corporate environment Able to interpret complex contracts and assess impacts of changes to such contracts. Skilled in identifying and retrieving information from complex financial or other electronic storage systems. Well organized, with the ability to prioritize tasks in a busy environment and capable of handling shifting priorities between projects. Ability to communicate effectively with various internal departments.Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Access, Excel and PowerPoint.Good interpersonal skills particularly attuned to working well with non-finance professionals. Computer literacy. Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office products (especially Word, Excel and Access). Managing conflicting priorities and working to deadlines.
