Project Director: M&E System Strengthening
m2m Kenya is recruiting for a Project Director: M&E System strengthening for an anticipated CDC project to strengthen HIV M&E at the national, county and facility levels. This position contingent upon an awarded contract.
****Purpose:**** To direct m2m’s national monitoring and evaluation health system strengthening project in Kenya, including capacity building of health workers, promotion of data quality at all levels, and promotion of best practices and the use of data for decision making. The position is based in Nairobi and reports to the Country Representative.
****Key Outcomes:****
Lead the development, implementation and periodic review of project planning, aligned to donor, MOH and m2m priorities (including capacity building of health workers, promotion of data quality at all levels, and promotion of best practices and the use of data for decision making).Facilitate the employment, development and performance management of project staff, promoting team work and the values, vision, mission and culture of m2m at all levels.Act as the primary project liaison to the MOH at the national and county levels.Manage relationships with the project donor, ensuring quality implementation, reporting and compliance with donor requirements.Track and monitor project performance, providing guidance and coordination for changes and improvements where necessary.Track and manage financial progress of project implementation, ensuring expenditures are within budget, and coordinate project budgeting in partnership with the finance team.****Qualification and experience required****
Master’s degree in the health or social sciences, management, or equivalent; MD or PhD level strongly preferredMinimum 7 years’ experience in the field of public health including at least 3 years in HIV M&E capacity building and/or health system strengtheningKnowledge of effective methods for cohort analysis, and familiarity with MOH M&E data collection tools, MOH M&E training materials and processes, and MOH data quality tools and processesSubstantial MOH and NGO experience at the national level in Kenya including relationship management (experience with a national level HIV M&E a distinct advantage)Excellent leadership skills and the ability to translate the organization’s vision and mission into concrete action and think strategicallyDemonstrated project management skills, including project cycle management, financial management and strong critical thinking and decision making skillsDemonstrated people management and relationship management skills, including performance management, team building, communication, consultation and negotiation skillsProject monitoring and evaluation experience, including tracking of capacity building outputs and outcomesHigh level of computer literacy, report writing and presentation skillsFluency in English and Kiswahili is essentialEnthusiasm to work on behalf of m2m’s clients*mothers2mothers**is an equal opportunity employer.
