****RECRUITMENT OF ADVISORY BOARD MEMBERS FOR BUILD AFRICA KENYA****
Build Africa Kenya (BAK) is a locally registered Non-Governmental Organization (NGO). It is part of a larger Build Africa, a dynamic charity working in rural Kenya and Uganda, with its headquarters in United Kingdom. Our mission is to partner with African communities to create lasting educational and livelihoods opportunities. Our vision is for people in Africa to lead fulfilling, and happy lives.BAK programming focuses on education and livelihoods. BAK is currently operational in Kwale, Machakos and Nakuru Counties with future plans to expand its programming to other Counties.
Build Africa Kenya is recruiting new members for its Advisory Board. The Board will provide strategic and governance to BAK operations in Kenya. Additionally, the Advisory Board will ensure that BAK fulfills its strategic objectives in line with its mission and vision as well as provide strategic and governance support to BAK’s Country Director and the BAK Senior Management Team (SMT) towards the accomplishment of the organization’s strategic priorities. Additionally, the Board will monitor the organizational performance and its compliance with government stipulated legislation, standards and Audit procedures while also providing technical and professional support towards review of BAK’s policies and procedures. The Board will also ensure integrity in management practices in BAK operations is upheld, and that highest ethical standards are maintained in all BAK operations. The Board members will periodically be called upon to represent BAK in a variety of forums. The Board members are expected to be ambassadors of BAK business wherever an opportunity arises.
****Build Africa Kenya is therefore looking for suitable candidates who would become members of its Advisory board****. These candidates are required to posses all or any of the following professional skill and academic qualifications:
****a). Professional Skills:****NGO Leadership / Management; Project and NGO Management, Design, Monitoring , Evaluation, & sustainability; Gender Mainstreaming, Child Rights/Protection, Networking and Partnerships; Legal and Industrial Labour Knowledge, Human Resource Management, Finance and Accounting; fundraising / resource mobilization, Institutional leadership and management, strategy development and implementation, as well as communication and public relations. Any additional competencies that would support operationalization of an NGO will be considered.
b). Education: *Either a Graduate and/or undergraduate degree* in any or more of the following academic backgrounds: Education, Agriculture/Livelihood, Business, Leadership, Community Development, Project Management, Economics, HR, Gender, and Law. Ant other relevant degrees will be considered.
c). Key Character Traits / Competencies:A person of high integrity; team player; a good communicator; willingnessto voice opinions, passionate about the well being of the poor and vulnerability, willingness to devote time to BAK business and to be held accountable by BAK stakeholders.
Advisory Board members will serve a maximum of two terms of ****THREE**** years each. The Advisory Board members will serve on VOLUNTARY BASIS but the organization will cater for all coats related to BAK Board functions.
