Three Green Apples Consulting Limited is a consulting practice providing transformational human resource management services.
Our client, a global coffee export company in the Agricultural industry which is implementing social intervention projects on behalf of global donors, is looking to hire a Mill Accountant.
Reporting to the Chief Accountant, the incumbent will be responsible for applying their professional knowledge and skills in the preparation, presentation of financial and other decision oriented information so as to assist management in the formulation of policies and planning i.e. financial reports, balance sheets, income and loss statements, tax returns etc.
The Mill Accountant will need to work closely with the team and the clients to ensure alignment with the business strategy and importantly deliver measurable business value.
Key Responsibilities:
- Establish, monitor, implement and maintain accounting control procedures which include resolving accounting discrepancies and irregularities.
- Document business transactions and compile and analyse financial information to prepare entries for accounts in the general ledger.
- Interacting with clients on a day to day basis to answer their financial queries this includes explaining billing invoices and accounting policies to staff, vendors and clients. Accurate and proper recording and analysis of revenues and expenses.
- Reduce mill operational expenses through optimization of the use of casual workers and marketing costs incurred.
- Participate in financial forecasting, planning and budgeting.
- Prepare profit and loss statements monthly as well as Closing and Cost Accounting reports.
- Manage petty cash by implementing controls in reimbursements and requisitions and account for bank reconciliations.
- Accurate preparation and maintenance of payroll ledger into the financial system including submitting the required statutory deductions on time and maintaining accurate reports.
- Develop and maintain a basic procurement system that keeps track of purchases for different departments and ensures that the supplies are bought at competitive prices and payments are done on schedule.
- Analyse financial information to recommend or develop effective use of resources and procedures. Provide strategic recommendations and maintain solutions to business and financial problems.
- Manage the company’s compliance to various certificate bodies’ requirements.
Requirements
The incumbent must possess the following minimum qualifications and competencies:
- A degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field from a reputable institution of higher learning.
- Minimum CPA Section 4 or its equivalent.
- A minimum of two years’ experience in the manufacturing industry in the role of accounting with proven success in attainment of targets on a monthly basis.
- Good computer skills with knowledge of accounting software. Experience in the use of Navision is highly preferred.

Remuneration: The salary for this position is KShs 40,000 gross per month negotiable dependent on experience and demonstrable contribution.
