Business Development Lead Job in Nairobi Kenya - App and Web Platform




Our client, an app and web platform that enables individuals and businesses to request on ­demand or scheduled courier services at anytime, any day, 24/7, is recruiting for a Business Development Lead to join their growing team.

Job Profile:  Have full ownership of the Business Development vertical.

Reporting to Operations Director

The prospective employee will be expected to fulfill the following responsibilities:
 




General Customer Acquisition: Have full ownership of the Business Development vertical. Close deals, manage a budget, lead business marketing activities, scale strategy internationally, and build/lead a team



Corporate Clients: Fully support Executive Team in finding, negotiating, and closing large
Corporate deals.


  • Support CEO and COO in acquisition of large corporate clients (manage communication, arrange and attend all negotiation meetings, draft project proposals, help develop corporate marketing material, lead development of formal contracts, etc.) Do whatever it takes to close the deal…!

  • Handle corporate client inquiries and concerns personally.

  • Run pilot testing phases for new corporate products.

  • Lead on all signed corporate accounts as a Senior Account Manager. Make sure the corporate partners love you at all times. Wine and dine our partners if necessary.


Business Clients: Strategize and lead all business client acquisition activities. Take full ownership and responsibility of finding, negotiating, and closing business deals.


  • Develop strategy for acquiring traditional business clients.

  • Lead all Business Client acquisitions. Bring in CEO or COO to negotiations only on very unique cases.

  • Follow up on all business leads and set up meetings.

  • Oversee and carry out all business client acquisition activities.

  • Plan and prepare business presentations and proposals.


Expansion: Rollout acquisition strategy to new regions, build regional Business Development teams and manage their activities.


  • Work with Expansion Director and Logistics Lead to help open and build offices in new locations.

  • Travel to new locations and set up local Business Acquisition Strategy.


Management: Grow and manage entire business development vertical: strategy, activities, team, and budget.


  • Manage all Business Development activities

  • Hire and train new Business Development Associates and Account Managers locally and internationally.

  • Lead the Business Development team as it grows.

  • Account for and balance a Business Development Budget.


Reporting: Hold accountability for all sales metrics with weekly reporting across all regional offices.


  • Set sales targets and define strategy to achieve these targets and to follow the set strategy punctually.

  • Own overall sales metrics and report weekly numbers to the team. Be responsible for gathering all regional sales metrics weekly and collating reports.


Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Sales, or Marketing. Masters or MBA strongly preferable.

  • Advance knowledge in Microsoft packages and preparing presentations.

  • Overall 5+ years of experience in a business development role.

  • Experience managing multiple customers and projects at the same time.

  • Socialite. Great at networking and meeting new people.

  • Intuition for people, with an ability to cultivate relationships easily.

  • Demonstrated success in negotiating, cultivating and growing partnerships across all levels and sectors.

  • Outstanding communication skills, oral and written, technical and non-­ technical.

  • Solid writing background; experience blogging and/or editing (grammar buff).
