Logistics Co-ordinator -Tanzania

Our client, a group of company in the business of cargo and passenger transportation in Tanzania seeks a qualified Kenyan to fill the position above. The core duty of the Logistics Coordinator is to participate in the administration of the company fleet so that it runs efficiently, effectively and as economically as possible. The Logistics Coordinator will be one of a team of people continuously monitoring and scheduling logging trucks for maintenance.

Duties &Responsibilities for Logistics Jobs

Oversee repairs and maintenance of trucks and transport department facilities.

Budget & Analyze expenditures consistent with approved budgets.

Negotiate and authorize contracts with suppliers, and monitor contract fulfillment.

Set operations policies and standards, including determination of safety procedures

Prepare and advice on proposed fee and tariff/schedule changes as approved by the management

Provide administrative and technical assistance.

Direct activities related to, routing, and tracking transportation vehicles, & dispatching

Plan, organize and manage the work of subordinate.

Train, schedule, reprimand, hire, and terminate employees with the authority of General Manager and HR Manager.

Ensure fleet achieves maximum turnaround and ensures loading, transit time and offloading time are reduced to a minimum and efficient.

Supervision of the Mechanic Team and its deployment in repairs and maintenance for truck breakdowns on the route.

Organization of a truck maintenance program that coordinates maintenance activities for the 150 unit heavy truck fleet. This includes the tracking and scheduling of maintenance for 150 heavy trucks spread across Tanzania and neighboring regions. It also includes reporting of vehicle metrics such as downtime, cost of operation etc.

Oversees and approves administrative processing of paperwork required in the loading for cargo in Dares salaam (e.g., transit license, Truck & Trailer registration, Drivers license, etc.).

Preparing and administering budgets for on road operational expenses, border fees, road tolls, driver allowances etc for route destination.

Will be on call 24 hours in case of emergency, breakdown, accident, theft of cargo etc in order to take appropriate measures.

Qualifications for Logistics Jobs in Tanzania

Bachelor’s degree in Business Related Field Preferably Transport &Logistics option

At least 7 years managerial experience in a busy commercial Heavy Truck Transportation business

Excellent command of written and spoken English is essential. Fluency in written and spoken Swahili would be advantageous

Ability to use MS Office. (Knowledge in Mix telematics tracking software would be advantageous)
