Context:


Under the overall supervision and guidance of the Programme Coordinator (Stabilization and Transition) and the direct supervision of the Monitoring & Evaluation Reporting Officer of the Transition Initiatives for Stabilization (TIS) Programme, the successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Evaluation Unit with reporting on the implementation of grants in accordance with the priorities established by the project’s Senior Management team and established IOM and USAID procedures.


Core Functions / Responsibilities:


  1. Collect all grants background information and data required to develop impact reports in collaboration with other staff in the Field Coordination, Monitoring and Evaluation, and Grants units.

  2. Draft weekly impact reports, snapshots, and other documents for review and comment by the relevant units within IOM TIS. Ensure that all edits and comments are incorporated into the final drafts.

  3. Assist the IOM TIS Programme in the submission of strategy documents internally and to USAID.

  4. Edit reports drafted by field staff and implementing partners before submitting to the M&E Unit for inclusion into weekly, monthly, quarterly, and other project updates. Support the unit by conducting desk reviews and context/conflict assessment reports for expansion into new program areas.

  5. Maintain an updated matrix showing status of grant impact reports and success stories to the Head of Programmes on monthly basis.

  6. Assist the Head of Programmes with the general implementation of strategic communication activities as required.

  7. Assist in updating narrative records and photographic files, in accordance with the programme’s standards and requirements.

  8. Assist in building the capacity of staff in areas of programme development, impact reporting and strategic communication.

  9. Perform such other duties as may be assigned.

Required Qualifications and Experience


Education


• Master’s degree in Journalism International Development, Political Science, International relations, Diplomacy, Social Science or a related field from an accredited academic institution; or • University degree in the above fields with two years of relevant professional experience.


Experience


• Experience with an international organization or a non-governmental organization; • Experience with USAID programming preferred; • Knowledge of development programme planning and implementation; • Experience using access database, Microsoft Excel, Outlook and Word; • Understanding of socio-political dynamics of Somalia is an added advantage.


Languages


Fluency in English is required. Working knowledge of Somali is an advantage.


NOTE:


*The remuneration package is USD 3,000 per month.
