Licensing & Approvals Officer Jobs at Capital Markets Authority, Kenya


The Capital Markets Authority is a statutory agency charged with the responsibility of regulating and developing an efficient capital market in Kenya. The Authority invites applications from dynamic, goal-oriented, high performers, with strong problem-solving skills, for the following position:


Licensing & Approvals Officer Job Roles


Reporting to the Assistant Manager, the selected candidate will be responsible for;


Assisting in review of applications for approvals for issue of securities.

Undertaking legal compliance review of applications for licensing including by Fund Managers, Securities and

Derivative Exchanges, Collective Investment Schemes, Investment Banks and Real Estate Investment Schemes.

Undertaking legal review of applications for various approvals such as rights issues, share splits, mergers & acquisitions, advertisements, bonus Issue, private transfers etc.

Reviewing notices, announcements and advertisements by market intermediaries and listed companies and making recommendations of the suitability for publication.

Undertaking fit and proper assessments of directors and key personnel.

Maintaining databases relating to licensing and approvals applications.

Undertaking research on emerging capital markets products and services to supplement review of applications.

Preparing legal opinions on the impact of the Laws of Kenya and applicable international standards on applications under consideration

Preparing performance reports on key performance indicators.

Responding to queries and correspondence from various internal and external parties on the licensing and approvals requirements.

Attending and participating in the work of ad hoc committees as shall be assigned.

Undertaking any other tasks as may be assigned from time to time.
Minimum Qualifications for Licensing & Approvals Officer Kenyan Jobs


Qualification:


At least an upper second honors Bachelors’ Degree in Law, Business Studies, Finance, Economics or related fields


Experience:


Up to Two (2) years relevant experience in a legal environment, financial market or related field in a reputable organization.


Key skills, Knowledge & Competencies


Presentation and communication skills including ability to write reports;

Proficiency in computer applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Outlook express including financial and statistical packages;

Interpersonal and cross-cultural skills including ability to build alliances and collaborative relationships with sensitivity to diversity;

Ability to maintain high standards of integrity; establish straightforward, productive relationships; and

Ability to treat individuals with fairness and respect, demonstrating sensitivity for ethnic, cultural and gender differences.

Ability to meet tight deadlines as well as work with minimal supervision

Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a team

Organization and analytical skills
