Education Travel Company Business Development Officer Job in Kenya




Vacancy: Business Development Officer, Education Travel Company 



Reports to: General Manager Summary Cytonn Investments is looking for a talented sales and business development individual to join one of their portfolio companies, an organization in the education travel industry, which is a leading organizer of healthcare electives, gap breaks and volunteering expeditions for students, and headquartered in Nairobi, Kenya. 



The role will be tasked with building and retaining client relationships such as with universities, student healthcare societies and other critical associations in the education travel industry, identify emerging opportunities in the experiential travel industry, managing current client accounts to ensure maximum revenue whilst bringing in new business through a variety of lead generation activities.

The successful Business Development Officer will have a proven track record of successes in their career, an excellent communicator with a proven track record in Sales, Marketing and PR strategy. 



Experience Required


  • A grade B+ and above in KCSE (or equivalent) with good grades in languages 

  • A bachelors degree in marketing, business administration or related fields is essential with a minimum of second class honors upper division 

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in sales and business development 

  • Additional professional qualifications in marketing such as CIMA is essential 

  • A creative and innovative person who pays attention to detail 

  • Savvy with social media platforms such as Instagram, Facebook and Twitter

  • A self starter with superior sales, planning and organizational skills

  • Team player and ability to comfortably relate with cross cultural teams 

  • Should possess outstanding communication skills (writing and verbal) and management presentation skills

  • Ability to work long hours to complete assignments under minimum or no supervision 


Responsibilities 



1. Generate Sales results as per set targets. 


  • Lead generation: Successfully sources and converts potential prospects for the entire market through various channels such as emails, telephone calls to both new and existing customers using effective closing techniques. 

  • Networking through current customers, ambassadors, telemarketing, attend trade shows, and business functions and seeks referrals.

  • Develop comprehensive knowledge of customer and market needs such as customer experience expectations and work with all teams to ensure successful selling of products. 

  • Successfully upsells potential and existing clients to higher value items and enhancement products. 

  • Uses CRM system to effectively plan and manage the work assigned and to track productivity of sales activities on the weekly sales report. 


2. Conduct marketing activities geared towards enhancing brand value 


  • Identify potential program participants as individuals or as schools and creating informed awareness through distribution of relevant program material and linking them to the website and the social media sites. 

  • Web marketing – Research and maintain multiple channels for advertising the company business online. The requirement is to keep the company visible and actively update these channels. 

  • Generation of marketing materials such as newsletter, fliers, banner, booklets among others.

  • Assist the General Manager to develop and successfully execute the Business development plan using effective techniques. 

  • Attending and organizing for attendants for relevant conferences and events both locally and internationally to market products. 


3. Research and Development 


  • To thoroughly research and understand the product, competition, industry, marketing goals and objectives and overall business requirements in the industry. 

  • To build, manage and maintain a substantial pipeline and to ensure that all pipeline activity is accurately documented. 

  • Conduct market research to identify relevant and potential institutions for partnerships both locally and internationally, and establish relationships with them. 

  • Conduct continuous market research on relevant events in the industry both in our placements destinations and source markets. 

  • To create polished proposals and presentations.
