Job Title: Logistics & Transport Officer (2 Men Preferred)

Location: Msambweni, South Coast

Travel Required: Occasionally required,

Role Summary: Development of timely, cost-effective import and export schemes to the handling of the technicalities of international & local customs clearance & transportation.Role and Responsibilities

Planning routes and load scheduling for multi-drop deliveries.

Monitoring transport costs, negotiating and bargaining transportation prices.

Will be required to handle technical details relating to possibly international transportation, such as customs regulations and any necessary documentation.

Efficiently evaluate the costs of transportation, services and inventory within any budget or distribution  strategy.

Must have knowledge of national and international import/export legislation and must be able to effectively troubleshoot any issues that may arise in international freight transportation.

Must also build relationships with Logistics mediators, Customs, Shippers, Clearance Agents and work closely with Packaging Service Providers to ensure the protection of freight in transportation.

Documentation and organization is important – any changes to operating procedures, prioritization or any problems must be documented and communicated accurately.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

Degree in B.A with postgraduate qualifications in Shipping & Logistics; 1 year experience or A diploma in Clearing and Forwarding with 2 years’ experience.

Fluency in a foreign language may be an added advantage.

Ability to appraise and use IT packages and electronic communication methods.

Effective communication skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks all with an attention to fine detail.

Good intuition to make crucial judgment calls.

Good people management and coordination skills.

Superior Negotiation skills
