Job Title: Public Relations Manager
Reports to: Secretary General
Terms of service: 3 years Renewable contract.
Job Purpose: The Public Relations Manager will be responsible to the for Managing the corporate image and reputation of the Union
Key Accountabilities:
The position holder will have the following accountabilities;
- Managing and facilitating the overall relations between the Union and other bodies including members of the Union, Government agencies, trade unions, private sector as well as the general public
- Coordinating public events including press launches, press conferences, exhibitions and member recruitment campaigns
- Preparing press releases, speeches, media stories brochures, flyers, newsletters and reports for the Union
- Monitoring the media and responding proactively to issues through the appropriate channels
- Coordinating of the outreach programme
- Maintaining and updating the Union Website.
Key Qualifications:
- Possess
a Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in public relations, communications,
media studies, journalism or a related field from a recognized
institution; - Have served in the field of public relations or in a related field for at least ten (10) years;
- Be registered with the relevant professional body;
- Attended a management course lasting not less than four weeks;
Job Related Skills:
- Possess excellent communication, strong interpersonal and problem solving skills;
- Possess conceptual, analytical, research and report writing skills;
- Possess
ICT skills including Microsoft Office, web design, social media and
other relevant computer applications as a working tool. - Be a team player
- Have shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.
