Soil Science & Fertilizer Manager
About Us: Sanergy is an award-winning social venture that is creating new organic agricultural inputs that will reverse the trend of declining harvests and increasing prices for farmers. We are preparing to launch our first agricultural input, a locally produced, high-quality organic fertilizer.
 Role Description: Sanergy is looking for a Soil Science & Fertilizer Manager responsible for monitoring and improving the quality of our agricultural products. We are looking for someone with adept experience with organic fertilizers, who understands the technical composition and mechanics of producing a world class product. This person should also have experience diagnosing problems / nutrient deficiencies on farms and counseling farmers on inputs and improved practices. 
We are looking for someone who combines technical skills with a strong customer-orientation, as this position will act as a bridge between our product development team and quality assurance for our customers in the field.
This position will provide a range of experiences in technical product development and customer service with a high degree of influence and autonomy in a rapidly growing company as it launches new products into the market. Working directly with farmers to understand customer needs, problems/deficiencies, and identifying opportunities for product improvement and diversificationWorking with our R&D and processing teams to improve the existing product formulation and create new product formulations by testing different feedstocks, inputs, and additivesProviding technical support to our sales team where needed and providing quality assurance to customers in the fieldSupporting the sales, processing, or engineering team on other technical tasks as they ariseGenerate data and meet deadlines, and analyse, write and present reports.Implement improvements to support the development of business efficienciesBachelors degree in Agronomy or closely related field with minimum of 2 years experience; a Masters degree will be an added advantageTechnical experience working with fertilizer production and/or farms and soilsA self-starter and critical thinker with attention to detail, ability to multi-task, and work with a high-degree of autonomyStrong communication skills - verbal, written, and computerWillingness to work in a variety of conditions including field and officeStrong background in soil scienceIf you are interested, please submit your cover letter and CV to

The International Fertilizer Development Center (IFDC) is a Public International Organization governed by an international board of directors with representation from developed and developing nations.

The non-profit Center focuses on increasing and sustaining food and agricultural productivity in developing and transitional economies through the development and transfer of effective and environmentally sound crop nutrient technology and agribusiness expertise.

IFDC wishes to recruit National Agribusiness Cluster Advisors in Kenya and several other East and Southern African Countries.

The National Agribusiness Cluster Advisors will coordinate the in-country implementation of a market development project called 2SCALE (Towards Strategic Clusters in Agribusiness through Learning in Entrepreneurship). Activities involve identification, development and implementation of so-called agribusiness clusters.

The Kenya National Agribusiness Cluster Advisor will lead the identification of profitable agricultural market opportunities and local business service providers who can support agribusiness clusters that want to target profitable agricultural market opportunities, the facilitation of discussions between value-chain actors that lead to formal contractual agreements that are mutually beneficial to the parties involved, and the provision of support to value chain actors in business plan development.

Job requirements

* At least 10 years experience in agribusiness development
* Ability to communicate effectively with value-chain actors at all levels involved in the project and to stimulate a genuinely participatory process
* Experience in the private sector, and a private sector orientation
* Degree in an agricultural or business field
* Good communication and reporting skills in English
* Ability to coordinate training programs and other events
* Ability to work independently and to take initiative
* Willing to travel extensively in Kenya and East and Southern Africa
* Excellent skills to work in a multi-cultural and multi-disciplinary environment
