The NCPWD would like to recruit a suitable candidate for the position of Legal Officer, reporting to the Director.

The ideal candidate should possess the following qualifications:
Academic Requirements and experience
Must have LL.B (Bachelor’s Degree in Law) from a recognized UniversityMust have obtained a Diploma from Kenya School of LawMust have been admitted as an Advocate of the High CourtMust have a current practicing certificateMinimum of 5 years hands-on experience in legal work in a busy human rights firm or a large corporate organizationAge 30 – 37 yearsAbility to carry out legal research, drafting and writing legal reportsAbility to handle Court Assignments in the Lower and High Court involving legal process and procedures on civil rights and human rightsGood dissemination and presentation skills on diverse legal issuesGood communication skillsComputer literacyUndertake legal research on litigation matters for the CouncilCarry out ad hoc assignments for CouncilEnsure that the Council is abreast with any new legislative measuresAdvise the Council to comply with laws, by-laws and legislative requirements in all corporate mattersReport and present legal research and investigation findings to the management as delegated, discuss and agree on management action and assist in subsequent implementationEnsure full compliance with Law, procedures and both regional and international instruments on disability.Preparation of evidence and occasionally attend Court on behalf of Council’s clients.Interview witnesses and document evidence on behalf of clients and occasionally attend Court on behalf of the CouncilAdministratively assist and guide the Council on legal mattersInterpret local legislation and international instruments on behalf of the CouncilPreparation correspondence and preparing reports for the CouncilDrafting all sorts of legal documents for the CouncilHandle all clients’ complaints that are of legal nature and advise appropriately.Terms of Service: Permanent
Salary: Kshs.30, 472
Allowances:
House: Kshs.20, 000
Medical: Kshs. 1,500
Commuter: Kshs. 1,800
