Location information: Ileret Location, Northern Kenya.
PHASE 1: (Two months) – Project setting up and feasibility study
• Induction and on-job training of Water Facilitator
• Training Induction of Water user committees and Community water workers on their expected roles and responsibilities.
• Water sites identification
• Environmental impact assessment - feasibility study in collaboration with Ministry of Agriculture on proposed sites for intervention approval
• Develop structures design and Bill of Quantities for the identified sites
• Construction plan reflecting community contribution and VSFG contribution
• Provide Internal order request for procurements of materials
• Submit a technical report on training and feasibility study conducted
• Provide a SMART action plan for the WUA (water User committee) to implement in his absence.
PHASE 2: (Four months) - Construction of water structures and strengthening of the
Natural Resources Management (NRM) activities
• Facilitate the Construction of 4 new Shallow Wells and rehabilitate 2 Shallow Well structures.
• On the job support to Water Worker (COWWs) and Water Users Association (WUAs)
• Support the Natural Resource Management Initiatives establishments
• Routine monitoring of water activities implementation and performances of WUAs and COWWs
• Develop community based (to be implemented by community) and VSFG monitoring and Evaluation too (to be implemented by Water facilitator, the Project Officer & Consultant).
• Develop an action plan for monitoring water community, VSFG and Ministry of water & KARI
PHASE 3: Two weeks (Monitoring & Evaluation)
• Conduct two monitoring visits to monitor and evaluate the quality of the activity progress and capacities of the water facilitator and WMCs.
• Submit final report.
Potential/Qualified consultants(s) shall provide written proposal(s) on soft or hard copy clearly spelling out: -
1. Company profile/Consultant’s CV detailing Qualifications & experience
2. Technical proposal to include methodology for Implementation
3. Work Plan
4. Financial proposal.
Qualifications, Experience, Attributes & Skills required
• Relevant Qualifications in Water Engineering.
• Past Experience with construction & rehabilitation of Shallow Wells in the Arid Lands.
• Willingness to work in the Semi and Arid Lands.
• Ability to handle Financial plans
• Knowledge on budget control
• Ability to prepare and compile good reports.
