Reports to: Board of Directors
 

Supervises: All the employees in the Company

General Purpose:

• To oversee the day-to-day activities of the business.


• To create, communicate and implement the Company’s vision, mission, and overall direction.


• To lead the development and implementation of the overall Company’s strategy.


• To lead, guide, direct and evaluate the work of the all the staff of the organisation. 


• To formulate and implement the strategic plan that guides the direction of the business.


• To evaluate the success of the Company.


• To demonstrate the leadership necessary to make the Company’s mission a success.


• Expand the company as per the business model, which may be updated by the Board from time to time.


• To be involved in continuous product development to improve the range and products offered.

Specific Job Responsibilities:
 

Business Development

• Maintain awareness of the competitive landscape, opportunities for expansion, customers, markets and new sector developments in the meat industry.


• Supervise the Sales team to ensure that sales targets are being met through an increasing customer base, and that marketing efforts are relevant and successful.


• Keep track of weekly, monthly and annual revenues and profit forecasts and whether actual results are tracking forecasts.


• Procure statutory licenses and permits from relevant bodies such as county councils, and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.


• Develop and sustain business relations with both retail and institutional clients.


• Aggressively grow the retail clientele of the business and endevour to supply meat and value added products to supermarket across the country.


• Keep track of weekly, monthly and annual revenues and profit forecasts and whether actual results are tracking forecasts.


• Evaluate and implement the retail strategy of supplying to supermarkets and butcheries, and setting up a chain of branded butcheries across the country.


• Develop other routes to market to improve sales and profitability.

Human Resource

• Oversee the recruitment process of staff; interviewing, hiring and training of employees.


• Develop a staff motivation plan and reward system for employees in the Company.


• Responsible for overall staff motivation.


• Organize for training and staff development.


• Set Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for staff, and give them stretched but achievable targets.


• Conduct bi-annual staff appraisals to evaluate them according to their set KPIs.

Operations

• Responsible for overseeing the development of Standard Operating Procedures for the business to be used by the various departments and functions (including but not limited to (1) Procurement (2) abattoir operations (3) Sales and Marketing (4) Logistics and supply chain (4) Finance


• Supervise pricing of products, and grow gross and net profit margins by introducing cost and operating efficiencies.


• Liaise with suppliers to ensure favorable credit terms are provided, and that contracts to third party contractors are being awarded fairly and without unfair bias to the detriment of the business.


• Ensure that day-to-day abattoir operations such as are being handled efficiently.


• Overall responsibility for Environmental issues and Operational Health and Safety concerns of the business, including implementing an Environmental & Social Management System, and that the business is adhering to all E&S commitments as per the company’s Environmental and Social Action Plan (ESAP).

Qualifications:

• At least 5 years’ experience in similar position in hospitality industry or F.M.C.G


• Preferably a graduate or a masters holder (business related) from a recognized university


• Must be honest and great leadership skills.
