Declaration of Vacancy for Position of Chief Executive Officer

Pursuant to provisions of Prohibition of Female Genital Mutilation Act No. 32 of 2011, the Anti-Female Genital Mutilation Board invites applications from suitably qualified persons to be considered for the position of Chief Executive Officer.
 





Requirements for Appointment
 


For appointment to this position, a person must:

  • be a citizen of Kenya

  • have at least ten (10) years working experience in a senior position in the public or private sector on gender related programmes including Gender Based Violence (GBV);

  • be in possession of a Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences from a university recognized in Kenya;

  • be holder of a Master’s degree in Social Sciences from a university recognized in Kenya;

  • be conversant with governance for State Corporations and other relevant laws and policies;

  • have knowledge on issues of government procurement, financial management and human resource management processes;

  • have strong leadership and management skills and a demonstrated record of successful leadership of multi-disciplinary teams

  • meets requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution on leadership and integrity.


Note:

  • Possession of a Master’s degree in Gender ; and

  • Membership to a Professional Association/Body will be considered an added advantage


Duties and Responsibilities


 
The Chief Executive Officer shall be the Secretary to the Anti-FGM Board and shall be responsible to the Board for the day-to-day management of the Board.



Specific duties and responsibilities shall include;

  • providing strategic leadership to facilitate effective delivery of the Board’s mandate;

  • being responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Board and achievement of the Board’s objectives;

  • preparing the annual budgets and establishing proper internal controls;

  • executing and communicating the Board’s strategies, decisions and policies;

  • developing and recommending to the Board members the annual business plans for the Board;

  • serving as a link between the Board and the management;

  • putting in place effective management and administrative structures, processes, systems and succession plans;

  • providing regular, thorough and prompt communication to the Board on Key technical, financial and administrative matters; and

  • being responsible for stakeholders’ management and enhancement of the corporate image of the Board.


Terms of Service: The Chief Executive Officer shall hold office for a period of not more than five (5) years, on such terms and conditions of employment as the Board may determine and shall be eligible for reappointment.

In addition, candidates must submit Tax Compliance certificate from Kenya Revenue Authority, Clearance Certificates from Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission and Higher Education Loans Board; and a valid Certificate of Good Conduct from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).
