Longhorn Publishers Limited, a leading firm with a strong presence in East Africa region, whose core business is publishing and distributing educational and leisure publications, wishes to recruit a dynamic and results oriented individual to fill the following post:
 

Position: Marketing Manager

(1 Post) 
 

Terms: Permanent and pensionable
 

Reporting to the Chief Commercial Officer

Job Description: The holder of this role will be accountable for managing all strategic marketing activities and campaigns across the segments.

He/she will lead, motivate and develop capabilities of the marketing team and provide strategic marketing leadership and consultancy.

Specific duties and responsibilities will entail;
 

A. BUSINESS STRATEGY

• Develop, manage and ensure the marketing strategy for both the parent company and the subsidiaries are in place.


• Review regularly the marketing practices in the organization and enforce best practices in the industry.


• Analyze the effectiveness of all marketing efforts including their contribution to the effectiveness of sales campaigns.


• Develop and grow the Longhorn Brand.


• Participate in price fixing, developing sales offers, and reward scheme for best customers.


• Develop and implement guidelines for sponsorship of events and activities of business partners.


• Ensure efficient and optimal use of promotional materials.

B. RESEARCH

• Monitor, review and present marketing research and market intelligence reports.


• Monitor, review and report all marketing activities.


• Managing launch campaigns for new products


• Develop linkages with strategic partners to gain competitive advantage

C. BUDGETS

• Financial management of the marketing programs, including budget planning and resource allocation.


• Prepare the Marketing budget and forecasts for the fiscal year and ensure optimal use of the funds.

D. BUILD AND MAINTAIN RELATIONSHIPS

• Participate in stakeholder forums to build sustainable relationships for long term business growth.


• Work together with the Sales Managers of Primary and Post Primary to achieve the sales target.

Minimum requirements
 

Qualifications:

• Master Degree in Marketing or any related course.


• Certification from Chartered Institute of Marketing.


• Five (5) years marketing experience of which 3 years leading a Marketing Department.


• Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.


• Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with demonstrated competencies in championing customer focus.


• Demonstrated capacity to lead, coach and supervise team members effectively to deliver on business targets.


• Demonstrate the personal qualities of being a self-starter, organized, results oriented and a team player.
