Organization: MSF OCA - Nairobi Supply Centre

Position: Transport and Customs Officer

Unit: Logistics

Duty Station: Nairobi

Purpose of the position

To successfully process transport and custom related operations for MSF OCA Nairobi Supply Centre.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

Customs:

Be responsible for the preparation of import/export and transit documents following the Kenya customs regulation and laws.Receive international cargo and process outbound cargo from Nairobi to regional MSF missions;Liaise with the field in regards to export documents and make sure the documents are endorsed on time;Manage MSF interests (in the TG and others) through stock inventories and monitoring of stock requests;Maintain an update guideline of customs procedures in Kenya;Liaise with relevant authorities concerning custom and transport issues;Together with the General Manager is the overall responsible for all customs issues; Receive and process transport requestTake the overall responsibility of loading and offloading trucks at the warehouseResponsible for the necessary paperwork (freight manifest, packing lists, insurance, donation certificates, etc.);Receive, check and forward transport related invoices.Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Proven experience in transport & custom management, preferably within humanitarian organizationsSound knowledge of customs procedures, applicable laws and regulations;Demonstrable familiarity with the KRA and related laws, procedures and practices;Confirmed knowledge of KAA and KPA procedures, regulations and related laws; Strong negotiation skills and diplomatic attitude;Excellent computer skills mainly in Microsoft office (word, xls and access);Well organized and able to prioritize workload, using initiative when appropriate;Able to cope with stress;Application by post to: MSF PO Box 5659-00506, Nairobi, Kenya

Médecins Sans Frontières is an international organization, which provides assistance, to populations in distress, to victims of natural or man-made disasters and victims of armed conflict, doing so irrespective of race, religion, creed or political convictions.

Our ultimate purpose is providing emergency medical aid to populations in danger. Our programs are based in Somalia with the support office being based in Nairobi, Kenya.

MSF-Holland, Somalia is recruiting Capital Electrician, to be based at the Nairobi but extensive travels to Somalia are required to support our projects in Somalia.

S/he will report directly to the Technical Logistician hierarchically & to the Logistic Coordinator Functionally, and will be expected to efficiently and effectively manage analyzing the current Electrical situation in the field and designing as well as installing improved systems where needed, Support local Electrician capacity by providing on the job training.

Specific responsibilities will include:

Assess electrical systems in MSF projects (single and three phase; battery, generator, city electricity) on safety, reliability, availability and costs according to MSF standardsAssess local suppliers for quality of electrical materialsAssess local (sub-)contractors for quality of installed electrical systemsDesign new systems and make the related drawings, planning, floor plans, order list and budgetWrite improvement plans with the related drawing , planning, floor plans, order list and budgetIn collaboration with the mission Technical Logistician put in place maintenance plans for all electrical systems and devices.Supervise established and on-going electrical workHelp selecting local electriciansTrain local electricians on-the-jobAssist headquarter office in improving field tools based on experience gained in this jobProduce a Quarterly report.Produce assessments reports.Produce floor plans of MSF Holland, Somalia buildings and electrical systemsElectrical Engineer or professional in related fields with minimum 2 years practical working experience in the field or a qualified electrician with at least 10 years of experience on implementing electrical systems.
