The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is an impartial, neutral and independent organisation with the exclusively humanitarian mission to protect the lives and dignity of victims of war and internal violence and to provide them with assistance. It also endeavours to prevent suffering by promoting and strengthening International Humanitarian Law and universal humanitarian principles.
The ICRC’s Regional Delegation in Nairobi co-ordinates the institution’s humanitarian activities in Kenya, Tanzania and Djibouti. It also runs Regional specialist units that provide support and expertise to the ICRC’s delegations in Africa.
The ICRC Regional Delegation in Nairobi is seeking for an experienced and highly motivated person to fill the above-mentioned position.
Trouble shooting and carry out repairs on existing structures;Assessment of required materials to a given project;Plan and clearly communicate improvements on existing electrical set up and effectively follow up these improvements;Perform new power installation from any given power point;Repair of any domestic electrical appliances ;Fault finding / diagnosis of electronic components in change over control panels and new installations of the same;Assessment of required materials, quality and quantity to a given electrical project (BoQ);Replacing the Head of Maintenance in his absence.Minimum Professional requirements:Academic – O Level/KCSE or recognised equivalent;Diploma of technical training in Electrical engineering;Valid driving licence class E (class B & C is an asset);Minimum 4 – 5 years of experience in installation and servicing of electrical appliances;Basic knowledge and skills in other civil works such as; masonry, welding, carpentry, painting and plumbing;Very good command of written and spoken English, knowledge of French would be an added advantage;Computer literate.Good analytical and communication skills;Good sense of organisation and quality conscious;Able to work independently & in a team;Willingness to work irregular schedules.Interested and qualified persons, with the required experience are invited to submit their application to the Head of Human Resources on the below address, before 11th of April 2014.

Oxfam’s Kenya Programme is a complex programme that incorporates both rapid and slow onset emergencies as well as longer term development and policy work.

Oxfam Kenya applies a one programme approach which means it has multiple activities that support a holistic approach to humanitarian, development and advocacy for long lasting change in poverty reduction.

Oxfam in Kenya works in the north, principally in Turkana, Dadaab and Wajir, the Nairobi informal settlements and on national level advocacy and coordination issues in multi stakeholder fora.

Oxfam has launched its largest ever appeal in Africa in response to the massive food crisis facing more than 12 million people across Ethiopia, Somalia and Kenya.

In Kenya, Oxfam aims to help 1.3 million people with clean water, cash initiatives and veterinary support people’s livestock.

To this end, we are seeking to fill the following positions:

Information Technology Officer

Location: Dadaab

Contract: Fixed Term contract upto March 2012

The IT Officer will be required to support the email system and ensure its reliability in the Dadaab office, ensure effective data management in the server including disaster recovery that ensures data is backed up and restoration tested regularly to ensure business continuity as well as provide support to programmes in implementing and maintaining applications that assist them in their day to day work.

The post-holder will manage the deployment of crucial systems upgrade, configure hardware and setup according to the set global standards, organise and conduct formal Induction to all new staff, as well as ensure user compliance to internal policies and procedures and report to Regional Information & Systems Manager in case of violations.

The incumbent of this position will contribute to budgeting and forecasting in relation to IT equipment, provide first level support to hardware/software maintenance & upgrades in the Dadaab office as well as act as the support person during system upgrades or rollouts by independently carrying out IS systems upgrades in the Dadaab offices.

To be successful in this role you will have a graduate in Computer Science or Information systems and professional training on computers, with knowledge on Local Area Networks, servers (basic hardware and software), possess high level of competence in development and implementation of computerised systems and be technically competent in area of specialisation and/or experience in IT workflows.

You will be required to have good written and verbal communication skills in English, possess the ability to take initiative in problem solving and learn/follow Oxfam policies and (technical) procedures to do the job.

In-depth experience in similar role is mandatory.

Plant Electrician

Location: Dadaab

Contract: Fixed Term contract upto March 2012

The Plant electrician will be expected to service and maintain gensets and pumps by monitoring all the electrical installations in the generator rooms and making recommendations of their replacements or repairs.

S/he will be expected to retrieve, repair and install boreholes submersible pumps, monitoring yield trends and behaviour of boreholes and suggest relevant remedial measures where necessary as well as repair and maintain standby control panels, change over switches and other
electrical equipments in the workshop.

The postholder will be expected to prepare weekly and monthly unit reports on jobs and conditions of all the relevant systems, do technical designs of the power grid for the Oxfam compounds in Dadaab and also assist in supervision of the contractors doing upgrade or installations of the power grids in Oxfam compounds.

To be successful in this role you will have a suitable qualification (Plant electrician grade one/diploma plant option) coupled with in-depth experience in plant workshop and in relevant field work.

You will be expected to be proficient in MS Office software and in possession of excellent communication skills in English and Swahili languages (both written and spoken).

You should be willing and ready to work for long and odd hours and have the ability to work with minimal supervision.

The product - Extra Neutral Alcohol (ENA) with 96.4% purity is import substitute.

Currently, Tanzania is importing ENA from South Africa, Kenya and Asia.

The Company is looking for a winning team of young Graduates and Technicians as per following requirements:

1. Shift Supervisors - should have B.Sc degree with specialization in organic chemistry or Micro- Biology obtained from recognized Institution. Candidates with 2-3 years experience in edible oil, food and beverages industry preferred.

2. Laboratory Technicians - Holder of a Diploma/Higher Diploma in Medical laboratory Sciences, registration by the Kenya Medical Laboratory Technician Technologist Board (KLTTB) will be an added advantage. 3-4 years work experience preferred in Edible oil. Food and Beverages Industries.

3. Boiler Operators - Qualified Technicians with 4-5 years experience in running 3-10 tons per hour capacity Boilers in Textiles or Sugar or Brewery or Oil mill. Holder of a certificate from the Government Trade Test or from any other recognized institute.

4. Electrician, fitter and welders - Well trained candidates with at least three years experience in manufacturing industry and a certificate from a recognized institute.

Reporting to the Senior Program Manager, the Finance and Administration Manager will ensure that all administration and financial processes are functioning effectively and efficiently, monitor administration and financial results to detect risks and opportunities and draw them to the attention of Management and Program.

He/She will plan, execute and evaluate all Refugee Assistance Program administration, procurement and financial management activities, create, update and ensure compliance with relevant CARE policies and procedures.

Human Resources Officer - Compliance and HR Audit

Reporting to the Human Resources Coordinator RAP, the HR Officer (Compliance and HR Audit) will be responsible for ensuring compliance with CARE’s policies and procedures including Standards of Conduct, Sexual Harassment and Exploitation, Conflict of Interest and will recommend appropriate action consistent with the Organization’s policies and Kenyan labour laws.

The incumbent will strengthen the grievance handling mechanisms by building capacity of staff to understand the procedures they should follow. He/she will conduct the RAP Program HR Audits at predetermined intervals and prepare compliance reports.

Procurement Coordinator

Reporting to the Finance and Administration Manager, the Procurement Coordinator will be responsible for identifying reliable and viable suppliers. The incumbent will ensure Project materials/services are procured in accordance with CARE Kenya Procurement manual and Donor regulations and are of the required quality.

The job holder will be responsible for managing the Procurement Reporting Tool (PRT) and making follow-ups with Nairobi Office on purchases made and expedite on deliveries to Dadaab.

She/he will ensure the efficient procurement of goods and services including consultancy contracts, timeliness, and to monitor Dadaab procurement to identify problems and provide solutions to any procurement issues. The incumbent will be in charge of the procurement unit and will supervise and manage performance of the procurement officers.

Camp Administrator

Reporting to the Administration Coordinator, the Camp Administrator will be responsible for staff welfare, safety and security, supervision of program support staff and general management of CARE assets at the Camp.

The incumbent will liaise with other agencies and all CARE sectors in providing efficient services to the refugee community. He/She will be required to compile various reports, update management on any development at the camp and continuously share information on provisions and gaps requiring urgent attention by management.

Auto Electrician

Reporting to the Workshop Foreman, the Auto Electrician will be responsible for installing, maintaining, diagnosing faults and repairing electrical wiring and computer based equipments in cars, tracks, caravans, trailers, earthmoving and agricultural equipments and wheeled tractors.

The incumbent will be required to comply with the workshop standard operating procedures, internal control procedures and CARE Kenya’s Vehicle Operation & Maintenance Management Policy.

Asset Officer

Reporting to the Finance and Administration Manager the position will ensure that all assets in Dadaab are properly accounted for by specifically ensuring reconciliation with financial system, tagging, verification and maintenance of the asset database register.
