Our client, a growing Safari company, is looking for a Mechanic in their camp in Maasai Mara. The successful candidate will be responsible for the routine maintenance. He/she MUST have a valid driver’s licences; a PSV will be added advantage.

Key Responsibilities:

Perform maintenance and repairs to camp mobile and stationary equipment.Perform preventative and predictive maintenance on mobile and stationary equipment including vehicles, generators, pumps, etc.Maintain inventory control over equipment and supplies.Assist the camp manager in ordering replacement equipment, parts and supplies.Maintain a clean and presentable workstation at all times.Maintain maintenance and repairs logs and records of mechanical equipment.To assist with camp administration as allocated at weekly management-HOD meetings.To maintain good communication with the camp manager informing of any issues and requirements in an accurate and timely manner.Undertake training as agreed to enhance and improve personal skills and knowledge.To ensure all requisitions are submitted and collected in a timely manner so as to provide the best possible guest experience in the most efficient manner.To be fully aware of the hotel’s fire safety procedures and health & safety regulations.Carry out and take a lead in any extra-ordinary camp activities in order to improve guest experience and the efficient running of the business.Previous experience as a mechanic is essential.Experience in a camp is an advantage.The Mechanic must be willing to work outside in all different weather conditions including extreme cold and extreme heat.Ability to work flexible hours and to tight deadlines.Organized – to keep control over vehicles before, during and after each safari.Very good communication skills.Education: Certificate

A well established Safari Company in Kenya is looking for a very experienced Head Store Man. He/she MUST have a minimum of 3 years relevant experience in a similar position.

Key Responsibilities:

Take overall in – camp responsibility for the safe and secure storage of all ‘consumable’ items for camp maintenance.To ensure that the service is at all times performed in a professional manner and to the style as specified by the Camp Manager.Ensure that all stores staff are adhering to the departmental weekly and daily routines.Make sure that any company policies and departmental objectives are followed and utilised at all times.Be an example to subordinates, assisting and carrying out any and all of the tasks that they perform as necessary.Instil into the stores a culture of essential hygiene practices connected with storage of chemicals and storage of food.Responsible for enforcing stores hours (approved by management) with all members of staff.To assist the Camp Manager in maintaining a sufficient but not excessive amount of stock, compiling all necessary orders and reports.To bring to the Camp Manager’s attention any suspicious usage or consumption.To report, monitor or handle small disciplinary matters.To be fully aware of the Hotel’s Fire Safety Procedures and Health & Safety regulations.Carry out and take a lead in any extra-ordinary Camp activities in order to improve guest experience and the efficient running of the business.Must have a minimum of 3 years experience.Good communication.Time management.High standard of cleanliness and orderliness.Education: Certificate

Kenya Safari Lodges & Hotels Ltd (KSLH) was incorporated in 1966. Kenya Tourist Development Corporation is the majority shareholder in this Company. KSLH owns and operates three properties, namely Mombasa Beach Hotel, Mombasa, Voi Safari Lodge, Tsavo East and Ngulia Safari Lodge, Tsavo West.
Owing to ongoing restructuring, the Board is seeking to fill two key management positions with dedicated, experienced and highly talented hospitality professionals who want to join the corporate management team based at the Company’s Headquarters, Mombasa.Reporting to the General Manager, the Finance Manager, will be in charge of the overall accounting and financial management functions of the company. The job holder’s role will include the following:
 Formulate and implement best practice financial management strategies, policies and accounting systems.Participate in developing long-term corporate strategy and business plans.Provide guidance and expertise in formulation of forward budgets and cash flow projections for the Units and the Group.Organize and coordinate reviewing of performance against these.Design and implement systems and controls for monitoring financial processes and procedures.Direct, oversee and coordinate the work of UnitAccountants to ensure accurate and timely preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements.Review and interpret the Units’ and the Group’s trading reports and financial statements. Advise senior Management and the Board on all financial matters including capital commitments and investment plans of the group.Develop and implement cost rationalization strategies to ensure reduction of overall operating costs.Serve as champion and link person to senior Management of KSLH for purposes of Performance Contract planning, negotiating, monitoring, evaluation and reporting.Train and develop accounting staff to ensure financial management functions and responsibilities are effectively and efficiently discharged to enhance financial integrity and safeguard company assets.Qualifications, competencies and experience:Bachelor of Commerce (accounting/finance option) or business related degree from a recognized university.Postgraduate qualification, especially MBA will be an added advantage.Professional accounting qualifications (CPA (K), ACCA).A Member in good standing of a known professional body.Strong computer skills (MS Office); demonstrated proficiency with common hotel software (FIDELIO FO, MICROS POS, MICROS Material Control, Finance SAP and Sun Accounting systems or similar ERP application)Minimum seven (7) years relevant experience in hotel/tourism or related service industry, three (3) of which must be at a senior financial management/leadership role. Hotel operations and systems expertise advantageous.Proven Excellent planning, organizational, analytical and decision making skills with good communication, negotiation and problem solving skills. Self-driven with high level of integrity.Practical knowledge and understanding of public sector financial management, regulations and practices.Reporting to the General Manager, he/she will provide HR strategic support to line management at core business units and at corporate level. Will lead and oversee the HR team in developing and implementing HR policies and initiatives aligned to Company Strategy.
As strategic partner and advisor, will ensure efficiency and effectiveness in delivery of innovative, value-adding HR programmes, processes and practices and help create a high-performance work culture in KSLH.
 Key duties and responsibilitiesParticipate in formulation and continual evaluation of business driven HR strategies, policies, plans and practices.Prepare annual budgets for HR and oversee their implementation and control.Participate in the annual performance contracting and lead the preparation and execution of HR work plans for each Unit and at Corporate levelLead and direct line management on key HR functions including HR planning and staffing, induction/orientation, on-the-job training, deployment, performance appraisal, motivation, reward/retention, discipline and grievance handling, employee health, safety and welfare.Plan and execute effective HR development programmes and build a highly skilled human resourceEstablish and nurture cordial employee/employer relationships and help cultivate positive IR.Qualifications, competencies and experienceFirst degree in Social Sciences or Business Administration with a bias in Human Resource Management.Post graduate diploma in HR.Postgraduate qualifications, especially in HR Management or MBA will be an added advantage.Member in good standing of an HR practitioners’ professional body such as IHRM (K).Minimum seven (7) years relevant HR Generalist experience with at least 3 years at senior management level. Experience in the Hospitality industry advantageous.Excellent knowledge of Kenyan Labour Laws and hotel sector labour relations.
