Position Title: Finance Officer
Duty Station: Kampala, Uganda
Duration: 1 year, renewable
Availability: Immediately

Role

The Finance Officer provides overall support to the accounting function of VSFB.

Main Responsibilities and Duties

Responsible for reviewing expenditure prior to approval of payment by ensuring accuracy and completeness of supporting documentation.Responsible for booking and reconciliation of Supplier accounts, client accounts, payroll and other General Ledger accounts.Responsible for generating the monthly monitoring reports for projectsParticipate in the preparing the annual budgets.Responsible for preparation of sales invoices and reconciliation of client accounts.Coordinate and liaise with banks, suppliers, Govt departments and other relevant authorities.Responsible for preparation of the Audits and financial reviews of partner NGO’s.Participate in the preparation of financial donor reports by ensuring compliance with donor regulations.Participate in the preparation of the annual budgets.In charge of backups of VSFB electronic accounting files.Participate in development of the finance policy and procedures manual.Responsible for compliance with VSFB and donor procurement procedures and policies are adhered to.Responsible for knowledge management within VSF Belgium.Essential or Minimum Requirements

Education

University degree in Bachelor of Commerce — Finance optionRelevant accounting qualifications i.e. CPA (K) or ACCA equivalentAt least 3 years financial management experience in a busy office.At least 3 years of experience in a middle level management positionExperience in managing and coaching a team.Experience in developing and implementing systemsExperience of working in other countries and with an NGO will be an added advantageExperience in the use of one or more accounting software packages and accounting in different currencies.Knowledge of donor rules and regulations i.e. ECHO, USAID, EU,DFIDKnowledge and experience with the International Accounting Standards (IAS)Excellent managerial, organizational and planning skillsStrong numerical skills and accuracy.Good reporting skillsComputer literacy with very good advanced MS Excel skills and WordAbility to work independently, under pressure and meet strict deadlinesAbility to prepare and present issues at all levelsStrong interpersonal and communication skillsTeam playerAttentive to detail and result orientedHigh integrity and initiativeIdentify him/herself with the mission, vision and values of VS F-BDisplay of intercultural sensitivity, respect in dealing with othersWillingness to travel to the field and remote locations.Please send your application (reference “Finance Officer”), CV and 3 references (one must be your current employer), by e-mail to recruitment@vsfb.or.ke on or before 14th March 2012
