Position Title:Project Manager
Duty Station: Moroto, Uganda
Duration: 1 year, renewable
Availability: Immediately

Role

The Project Manager will manage and coordinate the implementation of projects in Moroto..

This will involve: the coordination of partner activities. Provision of both technical and strategic leadership; ensuring efficient project development and management; ensuring that systems and procedures are in line with VSFB policies, VSFB strategy, donor and legal requirements. The Project Manager reports to the Country Director- Uganda.

Main Responsibilities and Duties

Responsible for the overall management and implementation of the projectCreate and organize the necessary infrastructure and work plans for successful project implementation.Responsible for project budgets and controlling its correct expenditures, in accordance with donor guidelines and project contracts.Monitor project activities including, reporting to donors through the Kampala Office.Supervise, manage and support project staff and conduct annual staff appraisalParticipate in recruitment of staff for their respective projects, whilst ensuring comprehensive induction and overall management of staff performance.Participate and contribute in financial planning, reporting, budget reviews and project extension requirements.Support internal and external audit processes, monitoring and evaluation of his/her projectsProvide quarterly project progress report and financial project reports to the Country Director- Uganda and Finance Manager.Representation of VSFB at local, national and regional levels.Ensure effective communication and information flow within the project Kampala office and the Regional Office Nairobi.Participate in relevant development networksResponsible for knowledge management within VSF BelgiumEssential or Minimum Requirements

Education
University degree in management and /or development related fieldPost graduate training in organizational development, livestock development, community based, participatory approaches, and/or financial management.Expertise in Drought preparedness and contingency planningExperience of working in other countries is an advantageGood knowledge of project cycle managementProven experience of managing partnersExperience with proposal writingVery good knowledge of ECHO rules and regulationsExperience with managing budgetsExcellent management, planning, organizational and coordination skillsProven ability to work with a range of stakeholders including civil authorities, donors and project partnersExcellent Financial and budgeting skillsComputer literacy with very good MS Excel, Word and Power pointStrong interpersonal and communication skillsGood writing and reporting skillsAbility to work independently, under pressure and meet strict deadlinesAccuracyAbility to deal with conflict and crisesFluency in written and spoken EnglishAbility to manage and motive a (multicultural) teamAbility to prepare and present issues at all levelsTeam playerAttentive to detail and result orientedHigh integrity and initiativeIdentify him/herself with the mission, vision and values of VSF-BDisplay of intercultural sensitivity, respect in dealing with othersWillingness to travel to the field and remote locations.Please send your application (reference “Project Manager”), CV and 3 references (one must be your current employer), by e-mail to recruitment@vsfb.or.ke on or before 15th March 2012
