Farm Supervisor Job in Kenya

Our client, an agro-forestry SME based in Western Kenya, is looking to fill the position of a Farm Supervisor. 

The activities on the farm include tree plantations, poultry farming and greenhouse vegetable farming, with plans to introduce cattle and goat rearing in the short term.

Reporting to the Director, the Farm Supervisor will be expected to coordinate the day to day activities on the farm, train and supervise workers assigned to him/her and manage the farm profitably.
Key duties and responsibilities:Planning, setting production targets and preparing regular progress reportsProcurement of supplies required at the farm including animal feed, fertilizers, pesticides etcObserving health and safety within the farm.Ensure proper use and maintenance of machinery and equipment at the farm.Managing the farm’s budget and cash flowMonitoring and documenting all yields and record keeping. Marketing  and selling produce, negotiating with buyers such as supermarket and local marketsPests/ disease management and control.Hire, train and supervise farm workers to ensure efficient running of day to day operations Minimum of 3 years experience in farm supervision and management.Self-starter with the ability to work with minimal supervision and under pressure.Ability to prioritize and manage own workload amid conflicting demands and busy work periodsKnowledge of animal husbandry and vegetable farming.Good communication (verbal/written), interpersonal skills Ability to build and maintain relationships with people at all levels.Proactive, energetic, and resilient, and be willing to be located in Western Kenya.Interested candidates should provide a detailed CV, including present position, current remuneration, names, addresses, and phone contacts of three professional referees, by 10th May 2013.
