Finn Church Aid (FCA) Regional Donor Liaison and Program Coordinator (Southern Africa) Job in Nairobi Kenya

Finn Church Aid (FCA) is one of Finland’s largest non-governmental organizations working in Development Cooperation, Advocacy and Humanitarian Assistance. FCA is a member of the ACT Alliance (ACT), an alliance of faith-based development and humanitarian organizations forming one of the World’s largest aid organizations. FCA is looking for a Regional Donor Liaison and Program Coordinator for Southern Africa, based in the East and Southern Africa Regional Office in Nairobi, Kenya. Presently FCA has three Southern Africa Country Programs (in Angola, Mozambique and Zimbabwe).

FCA is looking for a Regional Donor Liaison and Program Coordinator for Southern Africa

Primary purpose: To support donor relations and fundraising in the region and manage Finn Church Aid’s development, advocacy and humanitarian projects in Southern Africa.

Duties and responsibilities

Be responsible for project management and overall PME of FCA’s development, advocacy and humanitarian projects in Southern Africa in accordance with FCA Policies and Guidelines, including planning, budgeting, monitoring, archiving, intra-agency and back-donor reporting, evaluation as well as preparing payments to partners; Ensure that partners follow the reporting schedules, guidelines and other requirements as per contracts. Monitor and ensure the technical and financial quality of the on-going projects and their compliance with FCA guidelines. Support the effective and efficient management of the projects consistent with the project management cycle and compliant with FCA procedures, systems and guidelines. Ensure that all projects adhere to FCA’s systems and procedures. Ensure that project implementation meets back donor compliance requirements.Be responsible for the overall partner relations in FCA Southern Africa Country programs. Participate in recruitment of consultants and in preparations of TOR’s of consultants for Southern Africa programs as advised by the supervisor; Monitor the evolving humanitarian situation in Southern Africa and consider immediate and strategic responses together with other ESARO and Headquarter staff.Active responsibility for broadening FCA regional funding mix from international donors in close coordination with the Regional Representative, operational units and the Global Grants unit at FCA Headquarters. Tasks include proactively soliciting and cultivating donor relations, funding proposals, grants management, project monitoring, reporting and quality controlling. Monitor international grant opportunities from institutional donors including Europe AID, ECHO, UN agencies, USG, Diplomatic Mission/embassies, private sector, trusts & foundations. Identify and coordinate opportunities for funding in line with FCA’s strategic priorities and country programs in the region.Build the capacity of expatriate and local staff in the field office to meet various donor requirements.Build relationships with (I)NGOs, institutional donors, and other national or regional organizations and potential donors in Southern Africa, including ECHO, EU Commission, and UN Agencies,Fundraising and advocacy coordination with the sister organizations of FCA and ACT Alliance members and others,Represent FCA in coordination meetings relevant to FCA managed or supported projects in Southern Africa. Ensure collaborative stakeholder management including involving the relevant authorities in the planning and implementation of FCA’s activities. Participate in the planning of FCA’s development, advocacy and humanitarian projects/programs in the Southern Africa region, together with other ESARO staff, ensuring that the new projects/programs are in line with FCA policies and guidelines, national and cluster policies and guidelines.Provide inputs from the field perspective to ESARO Regional Office on relevant planning.Provide inputs for assessing new modes of partner collaboration, and for identifying new partners when relevant. Participate in fund-raising for Southern Africa programs. Provide capacity building support to FCA partner organizations in Southern Africa. Any other duties assigned by his/her supervisorCompetence and Personal RequirementsDegree in Development studies, Social sciences, Project Management or related field; Good understanding of development cooperation, advocacy and humanitarian aid and their standards; Strong project management skills and knowledge of appropriate project management tools (Logical Framework analysis, project cycle management, budget management etc.);Demonstrable experience in fundraising for international development NGOs with specific expertise in institutional funding instruments. Experience in managing development projects: Experience in establishing and maintaining strong working relationships with partners;Availability to travel extensively in target countries (Angola, Mozambique and Zimbabwe and possible new countries); Fluency in Portuguese language is a strong asset; Experience in managing advocacy and humanitarian projects is an asset;Experience in ACT Alliance emergency response mechanisms is an asset; Experience of a flexible approach to managing and prioritizing a high workload and multiple tasks in a fast paced environment with tight deadlines;Experience of proactively identifying and addressing issues; Ability to work on own initiative;An understanding of and commitment to FCA’s mission and values.How to apply:
