Head of Transport & Logistics

Job Objective: To oversee smooth operation, timely deliveries and cost effective management of the transport & Logistics department
 

Key Accountabilities

• Provide Leadership in the entire department


• Prepare Landside Transport Storage Handling (LTSH) Matrix reports and identify gaps in information and findings, analyse and evaluate information, develop statistics, and translate into information management products to facilitate decision making;


• Guiding the department on Planning – arranging transport for deliveries.


• Overseeing and management of functions of the entire department.


• In charge of Control – monitoring transport schedules and adjusting them if problems occur.


• Supervision & handling of discipline & management of the workforce in the department.


• Managing / building a team for effective maintenance management of the workshop and co-ordination with store, purchase, accounts and external liaison with traffic operations.


• Manage performance of branch employees with emphasis on productivity, efficiency, and service delivery.


• Lead all distribution and transportation planning and strategic activities.

Qualifications and experience:
 

The post holder will have:

• University degree in supply chain management, logistics or other related discipline.


• Previous experience of 5 years in planning-distribution, logistics or demand planning.


• Qualification: BE Automobile (or) Diploma in Automobile for exceptional candidate.


• 4-5 year experience as a senior position in a transport department a must


• Knowledge of various machinery, equipment’s, tools used in a vehicle maintenance garage,


• The ability to make effective decisions under pressure and on deadlines.


• Willingness to work flexibly.


• An understanding of health and safety.


• Knowledge of preventative maintenance, Engine overhaul, Power transmission, Fuel systems, Breaks, Steering, Tyres, and Suspension & Auto electrical works of Trucks.


• Managing / building a team for effective maintenance management of the workshop and co-ordination with store, purchase, accounts and external liaison with traffic operations.


• Experienced in Managing and Leading a team, motivating, developing


• fleet management and  vehicle maintenance


• Excellent skills on freight management and coordination between departments.


• Excellent interpersonal and  communication skills.


• To demonstrate high level of competency and maturity


• High integrity and good morals
