Gusii Water and Sanitation Company Managing Director Job in Kenya

Gusii Water and Sanitation Company Ltd (GWASCO) which is charged with the responsibility of supplying water to Towns and urban centres in Kisii and Nyamira Counties is currently undertaking comprehensive restructuring in her operations and core mandate with a prime objective of addressing challenges it is facing in order to remain competitive and relevant. 

To steer this company forward, we seek to recruit a result oriented and focused individual for the position of Managing Director to join a team of top managers in the company.
 

 

Job Purpose: Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Managing Director will be a strategic leader well versed with critical management decisions required to make the water company responsible to clients and run it in a profitable manner. 

This position will be on a 3 year contract renewable subject to performance.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provide leadership and management for all water and sewerage works


• Provide technical and commercial oversight activities


• Provide technical capacity to eliminate non-revenue water


• Provide capacity to meter all consumers and ensure timely water and sewer bills to consumers collect all due revenue every month


• Provide adequate, potable and reliable water to consumers at reasonable cost


• Establish and motivate a competent and skilled staff compliment for Gwasco


• Prepare and implement a Strategic Plan for revamping of Gwasco and expansion of production capacity and increased coverage


• Ensure that all water supplies under Gwasco are viable


• Collaborate with others in in the industry to benchmark best practices for Gwasco

Required Qualifications and Experience:

• Shall hold a BSc in Civil Engineering with at least 15 years post qualification experience in  Water and sewerage designs and management


• Registered with Engineers Board of Kenya for the last ten years


• Full or Corporate member of Institution of Engineers of Kenya


• Holding an MBA degree will be a distinct advantage


• Experience of at least seven years working with a water and sewerage company at top  management level


• Fully conversant with modern tools for design of water and sewerage


• Conversant with computer aided design and water billing


• Conversant with Water Act 2015 and also water regulator


• Conversant with EMCA 1999 and Nema.


• Conversant with requirements of National Construction Authority for project development

Core Competence

• The ideal candidate will demonstrate experience of taking responsibility for the quality of water and services to the customers


• Team player in the management of the water service provider


• Demonstrate maturity in working closely with Directors in developing policies to meet the changing and demanding water needs of customers
