Business Developer Water Job in Nairobi Kenya

(S)He will report to the Managing Director of the NHB Nairobi and liaise closely with the NWP principal advisor for Kenya in the Netherlands. The position is initially offered for a one-year period with possibility for extension.

Main duties of the ‘Business Developer Water’ are:

Strategically develop and grow water related advisory services as a theme and business unit in the NL Business Hub and as a sector in the bilateral economic relations between Kenya and the Netherlands

Promote and position the Dutch water sector, in particular members of the NL Business Hub, in Kenya and East Africa, based on good market information of relevant sectors such as water supply, agriculture, industry and energy.

Develop, acquire and manage strategic and relevant water related programs

Inform and advise actors in Kenya, East Africa and the Netherlands about opportunities and Dutch solutions, including access to finance.

Coordinate and collaborate with the Netherlands Water Partnership; and other sector organisations if and when relevant.

Overall, support the NL Business Hub in the provision of high-quality products and services to members and clients and engage in other tasks such as marketing and reporting. 

We are looking for a candidate disposing of the following background:

A thematic background with over five years of experience in water infrastructure, technology and / or water resource management that covers one or more water dependent sectors, such as water supply, agro-food, horticulture, energy or other water dependent sectors relevant to Kenya / East-Africa.

Minimal Bachelor’s degree, but preferably a Master’s Degree in relevant subjects such as Business Management, Engineering or a similar technical water related degree.

Entrepreneurial spirit with proven strategic and practical abilities: The candidate has had direct responsibility for acquisition and commercial activities e.g. in consulting.
