Samaschool has a presence in six U.S. locations: San Francisco, East Palo Alto, Quincy, Merced (CA), New York City, and Dumas (AR). In 2015, Samaschool grew to include its first international location in Nairobi, Kenya and launched a version of its in-classroom curriculum online. Job purpose


We are looking for a highly motivated, self-driven Senior Trainer to support a team of trainers and training partners to deliver training at the Samaschool learning centers, and ensure quality standards are met and maintained. He/She will also be involved in partner assessment, curriculum development and employer liaison. Ideal candidates will have experience teaching technology in low income contexts, managing teams and a passion for developing engaging learning curricula. Reporting to the Samaschool eLearning Content Developer, this individual will be an integral part of our team, responsible for helping Samaschool develop a dedicated team of instructors deeply committed to empowering the youth and women to access jobs in the digital economy.


Key areas of Responsibility


Training and Trainer Management (60%)


  • Supervise a team of trainers located at various partner training centers and carry out trainer assessments in accordance with set guidelines.

  • Provide off site technical support to trainers to troubleshoot and resolve any technical issues that may arise at the training centers.

  • Conduct trainings at learning centers and adapting to diverse contexts and environments to equip learners with knowledge and skills from the Samaschool curriculum.

  • Work alongside the eLearning Content Developer to conduct the training of trainers and identify training needs of the pool of trainers.

  • Support student data management and documentation of training activities through photographs for reporting purposes to include student progress, challenges and stories.

Partner assessment and employment partner liaison (20%)


  • Carry out technical evaluations of infrastructure at potential training centers to ensure that they can support the training.

  • Build and maintain working relationships with the training center managers.

Support curriculum development (20%)


  • Collect information pertaining to trainings conducted including seeking and compiling feedback from trainers and learners on trainings and documenting best practices for curriculum improvement.

  • Assist in content curation for curriculum development.

  • Support the eLearning Content Developer and Impact Team on assessment of learning, outcomes and student follow up.

  • Other duties as may be assigned.

You will also require:


  • A Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology with extensive knowledge in the field of computing, networking and database management

  • 2+ years experience in teaching/ training (training in underprivileged communities would be an added advantage) and managing teams

  • Knowledge of lesson planning, curriculum development and adult learning principles

  • Knowledge of soft skills required for workplace readiness

  • Knowledge of the Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) industry and job tracks within the industry

  • Demonstrable experience in learning/ training materials development

  • Knowledge of eLearning techniques. Participation in an online or blended program would be an added advantage.

  • Experience working with or managing Learning Management Systems would be an added advantage

  • Good presentation and communication (verbal and written) skills

  • Good facilitation and time management skills

  • Fluency in English and Kiswahili is essential
