Water Plant Treatment Operator

 

Job Summary: Responsible for the operation of the waste water plant in order to ensure that the camp residents have safe and clean water in accordance with NEMA and Water Regulations Act in addition to ensuring that waste water is treated and discharged according to the standards
 

Reporting to Maintenance Supervisor, the Water Treatment Plant Operator maintains the water treatment plant and sewer treatment plant and facilities. 

The delivery of safe and clean water is vital to the safety and health of the camp residents

Responsibilities:

• Maintain the water treatment plant systems in order to ensure the availability of clean camp water supply


• Maintain both water treatment and effluent treatment plants


• Inspect, service and repair components of the water treatment plant including water intakes, pipes ,water storage vessels, chemical equipment controls, circulation pumps, valves, filtration units, contactors, controls, reactors, dosing pumps, flow meters


• Ensure adequate water supply for human consumption and other activities


• Inspect the treatment plant systems on a daily basis to ensure effective operation and prepare work orders for servicing and major repairs


• Ensure that all chemical stock is stored securely and safely.


• Maintain inventories and advise when stocks reaches reorder level


• Conduct preventive maintenance programs


• Maintain the general administration of the water/sewer systems in order to ensure effective operations and keep log of the activities and water parameters on a daily basis


• Perform sampling and testing of water samples as per guidelines issued in addition to keeping and submitting records


• Fill requisition for the required spares


• Perform other tasks as requested by Maintenance Supervisor /Camp Manager

Education, Skills & Experience:

• Certificate or Diploma in Electrical Installation


• 3-5 years’ experience in Water Treatment Facility


• Recommendations from previous employer on water treatment will be added advantage


• Evidence of multi skills


• Pre-employment Medical clearance with AFEX Doctor


• Well organized and focused on service delivery


• Good interpersonal skills


• Passion and enthusiasm for the job


• Ability to work under pressure, prioritize and multitask


• Self-motivated and ambitious


• Ability to withstand strenuous and unpleasant environments
