A candidate is sought to fill the following position based in Nairobi.
Supply Chain & Distribution Manager
The purpose of this position is to implement supply chain business strategies to exceed customer needs, support business strategy and oversee day-to-day management of the distribution activities.
Key accountabilities:
- Ensure the Company’s supply chain and distribution policies and procedures are adhered to in line with the company Code of Ethics and are effectively implemented to support business growth strategy and exceed customer needs.
- Manage the SHEQ process in the supply chain and distribution team. Achieve safety targets; build commitment to sustain improvements in safety, quality and champion SHEQ initiatives.
- Take ownership to ensure delivery to customers is in full and on time including replenishing at company branches and subsidiaries in order to exceed sales targets.
- Perform site audits and take corrective action.
- Provide effective leadership to the site supply chain and distribution team that meets company standards.
- Train and develop the team to meet the required competencies on an on-going basis.
- Manage the inventory in line with company policies, procedures and standards including, cylinder inventory, bulk gases inventory, storage and handling, logistics, distribution planning and audits.
- Establish and maintain effective communication with customers, suppliers, transport, production and sales functions including central supply chain resources.
- Utilize company reports as a management tool for managing inventory and take relevant action to ensure branches and sales centers adhere to the supply chain standards.
- Prepare and review reports that inform the business for decision making and that confirms proper controls are followed and maintained in compliance with group standards.
- Ensure day-to-day management of the distribution activities.
The successful candidate will be in possession of Bachelors degree in Business Administration, or related discipline with a minimum of 3 years supply chain and distribution experience including inventory management.
The incumbent will have ability to operate in a regional environment, with excellent communication skills and a track record of successful business accomplishments.
Ideally the person will be customer focused, results driven, with influencing ability, negotiating skills and team orientation.
Business acumen, visible leadership, decision making, cross cultural communication and strong growth drive complete the profile for this position.
