Position: General surgeon
Introduction: Catholic Diocese of Murang’a is a faith based organization covering administrative counties of Murang’a and Kerugoya.
The Diocese offers healthcare services as part of her evangelization mission.
The Diocese is looking for a full time, passionate and committed general surgeon to cover both Gaichanjiru and Kiriaini catholic hospitals both in Murang’a County.
Responsibilities:
- To perform necessary surgical intervention and monitor the post-operative care.
- To provide medical personnel with direction concerning patient care.
- To provide in-service training as needed to address new technology in health care treatment.
- To conduct surgical ward rounds, consultation with all the hospital consultants and ensuring that the surgical patients are well managed with good patient history management profile.
- To provide all the information and risks associated with the surgery to the patient.
- To manage, plan and schedule the surgery procedures and document as well as share Copies of the surgery list with the administration.
- Ensure monthly inventory of both theatres is conducted and documented. Any procurement of supplies and equipment required ordered in good time as well as optimum utilization of resources.
- Liaise with other consultants especially in surgical cases.
- Provide consultation and surgical assistance to the hospital medical officers and clinical officers’ staffs to ensure smooth management of patients.
- Refer patient to medical specialist or other practitioners when necessary.
- Prescribe pre-operative and post-operative treatments and procedures.
Qualifications
- Bachelor degree in Medicine & Post Graduate degree in General surgery
- Registered and licensed with KMPDB
- Self-motivated and quick to take initiative
- Have worked in a similar position for at least two years
