Position Title: WASH Project Manager
 Location: FaIDA Field Office,Alinjugur
Reports To: Project Coordinator
Length of Assignment: 12 Months
The Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) Project Manager will have overall responsibility for the planning, management, operation, coordination and regular monitoring of the project to ensure smooth implementation of the Water, Sanitation and Hygiene promotion project activities including development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation as well as strengthening the technical capacity of the project team members. The WASH Project Manager will ensure that the Project and activities are executed according to generally accepted international humanitarian standards (e.g. SPHERE guidelines, Red Cross Code of Conduct, WHO guidelines).
 Carry out technical assessments to establish the specific aspects of repair and rehabilitation of WASH infrastructure in target locations and prepare strategies for corrective action including rehabilitation and development of new sources as needs demand;Provide technical support to other project staff in the implementation of the project including ensuring an integrated hygiene awareness and promotion component through community mobilization and involvement for sustainability.Training and Capacity buildingProvide supervision, training, capacity building, technical support and guide staff on the planning, implementation and management of the water, sanitation and hygiene project activities; Assess training and capacity development needs of WASH project staff and develop relevant training programs to meet the needs; Ensure the establishment, implementation and strengthening of the WASH project monitoring activities for effective reporting on key project indicators; Ensure compliance with accountability mechanisms inline with Humanitarian Accountability Framework, including SPHERE.Develop, nurture and sustain relationships with relevant stakeholders including the local Government departments, donors, NGOs and other agencies working in Kambi oos; Represent FaIDA in relevant sector clusters or other coordination mechanisms; Promote learning based on project objectives and activities and ensure documentation and sharing of learning with all stakeholders; Comply with FaIDA policies and practices with respect to child protection and security procedures and behave at all times in a manner which positively promotes FaIDA and its work, and actively maintain FaIDA acceptance within the camp;Information and Knowledge ManagementEnsure regular tracking of WASH Program expenditure, budget review and quality monthly reporting to facilitate timely replenishment of funds; Keep the Project Coordinator informed on progress of planned activities and any challenges or interruption to implementation that may arise; Produce quality and timely reports for FaIDA and donors within agreed reporting schedules and as required.Minimum Qualifications and ExperienceAt least a University degree in Civil Engineering, Water Resources Management, Public Health Engineering.At least 4 years’ hands on experience in the management and coordination of WASHProject activities in a refugee set up.Experience on use of PHAST –Participatory Hygiene And Sanitation Transformation or CLTS – Community Led Total Sanitation will be an advantageComputer literate in MS Word, Excel and Internet packagesAll application should include an application letter together with current CV and must be sent by email to HR Officer, email: recruitment@faidakenya.org on or before 14/12/2012. Only shortlisted candidates will be contractedRelated Posts Widget for Blogger

Job Title: Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) Project Officer

Contract Duration: 3 months with possibility of extension based on availability of funds

Fafi Integrated Development Association (FaIDA) is a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) operating in Fafi District.

FaIDA seeks to address the causes and consequences of human suffering and poverty amongst some of the most vulnerable communities in Fafi District and the region at large through participatory relief and development invention in partnership with Governmental and Non-Governmental Organisation.

FaIDA, with financial support from Catholic Relief Services (CRS) is implementing a three months emergency WASH project in Kambii Oos refugee camp to address the sanitation and hygiene challenges in the camp.

FaIDA is recruiting a qualified Kenyan citizen for the position of Project Officer (WASH) to be based in Kambii Oos on a three (3) months contract with a possibility of extension depending on the availability of funds. The successful candidate should be willing to relocate to Dadaab and report to work immediately.

Job Summary

Reporting to the Project Coordinator, the position holder will be responsible for the implementation of the WASH activities in Kambi Oos refugee camp as well as capacity building of WASH Committee and incentive workers.

The WASH Officer will work closely with Camp WASH Committees to implement sanitation and hygiene promotion activities.

The Project Officer will assess and report on WASH situation in Kambi Oos and identify options for repair or provision of necessary WASH infrastructure; provide planning and technical support for training of WASH committees and incentive workers for hygiene promotion; Organize waste collection and disposal; link WASH activities and interventions and support planning and monitoring of Rapid Hygiene Promotion campaigns among other duties.

Person specification:

BSc degree in Public Health, Environmental Science, Environmental Planning and Management; at least three (3) years working in community based WASH program; practical knowledge in design of community WASH systems; good assessment, analytical and writing skills; experience in training using participatory methodologies; good computer skills and hands on experience.
