Community Oral Health Officer Job at Caremax Health

Caremax is located at Juja City Mall along Thika Road. We are seeking to recruit capable, motivated and resolute professional to fill the position of Dental Assistant.


Job Overview


Dental Assistant works under the supervision of licensed dentist(s) at Caremax to provide quality oral health services.


Responsibilities



  • Prepares treatment room for patient by following prescribed procedures and protocols.

  • Screening patients, reviewing a patient’s oral health history and teaching appropriate brushing and flossing techniques. In addition, welcoming, comforting, and draping patient.

  • Perform oral examination and charting, cleaning of teeth and polishing.

  • Perform simple extractions, place fissure sealants, apply topical fluorides and temporary fillings.

  • Use dental X-ray machines to take dental radiographs and develop the film for the dentist’s analysis.

  • Review pre-operative settings and make sure that the dentist has what is required to carry out dental procedures; i.e. provide necessary help to the dentist, including mixing materials, trimming, and polishing dental casts.

  • Implements and adheres to infection prevention protocols including autoclaving instruments after use, cleaning the dental procedures’ space and storage of the clean.

  • Maintain a record of day-to-day activities of the dental unit and prepare regular reports as needed.

  • Inventory management of equipment and supplies at the dental unit. This includes preparing orders as needed to avoid stock outs.


Qualifications



  • Diploma in Community oral health/Dentistry or equivalent from a reputable institution.

  • Current practicing certificate.

  • At least 2 years of relevant clinical experience.

  • Good verbal communication skills – a good listener.

HELP Logistics Ltd is looking for a dynamic, committed, well-educated Education Coordinator to support higher education program development with universities in the East Africa region. Based in Nairobi, this is for a 2 year contract (renewable). This position will report to the Regional Director East Africa with a Technical Support line to the Director Global Logistics Education (Germany). You will be expected to travel up to 60% of the time to support projects in the region.


HELP Logistics is a non-profit subsidiary company of the Kuehne Foundation. The Foundation is privately owned and founded in 1976 by the Kuehne family in Switzerland. HELP Logistics AG has a registered headquarters in Switzerland since 2014 and has sub-offices in Singapore, Amman and Nairobi to support programmes in Asia, Middle East and East Africa respectively. HELP Logistics Ltd. provides support to the humanitarian and development sector through supply chain optimization analyses, research, training, and education.


Job Purpose


As the Education Coordinator you will deliver and coordinate education activities in close collaboration with multiple stakeholders in various countries across East Africa. In the area of higher education, you will work closely with universities establishing, reviewing, and supporting taught degree programs at Bachelor and Master level as well as research programs including PhD-funded projects. You will further collaborate with university faculties in the design and delivery of short courses and trainings for logistics professionals at vocational and executive level. Your role aims to build the capacity of higher education institutions so they can deliver degree level and training programs independently in the future at with high quality, at internationally accepted standards, and for the benefit of the regional and country needs related to supply chain management, logistics, and transportation.



Responsibilities


Education



  • Ensure the quality in design and delivery of higher education degrees in logistics and supply chain management at East African universities.

  • Support the organization of Train-the-Trainer courses.

  • Integrate higher education specialists (academics) and professionals from HELP’s international network into the regional education activities.

  • Carry out university performance reviews for programs and faculty members.

  • Coordinate and collaborate on regional activities with headquarters and other regional sub-offices.

  • Support the establishment of a regional academic community in logistics and supply chain management.

  • Reach out to international and regional stakeholders (e.g. NGO, GO, associations, etc.).

  • Attend public events (e.g. conferences, round tables, etc.) representing HELP and advocating for improved supply chain and logistics.

  • Provide support for teaching, research, and field trip projects.


Organisation, Reporting and Administration



  • Project and activity reporting to Regional Director and Headquarters.

  • Resource and budget planning and management.

  • Travel organisation and planning.

  • Provide media when appropriate to record project development and outcomes (photos, videos, case studies).


Qualifications and Experience



  • Experience in higher education faculty and/or administration (e.g. curricula design), preferably in a management-related discipline.

  • PhD in a management-related discipline.

  • Teaching experience in management subjects at higher education and/or at executive teaching level.

  • International experience in related areas.

  • Computer literate (MS Word, Excel) and competency in managing spreadsheets.

  • Excellent written and spoken communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Fluency in English.

  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively within the region (potentially 60 – 70%).

Position Overview



RefuSHE is a non-profit organization based in Nairobi, Kenya dedicated to identifying, protecting and empowering unaccompanied refugee minors, especially adolescent girls, through our specialized



shelter, education, Child Protection and advocacy programs. The Girl’s Empowerment Project is comprised of a diverse group of participants from different countries of origin with varying educational, language, and literacy levels. Using the Government of Kenya’s adult education curriculum, combined with a student centered teaching approach, it is expected that the Teacher will carry out program goals and objectives related to the classroom and the participants.



Tasks and Outputs:




  1. Actively participates in the development of secondary education curriculum tailored to suit adult education learners.

  2. Develops schemes of work and lesson plans in line with the adult education curriculum objectives and keeping up to date with changes and developments in the structure of the curriculum.

  3. Facilitates learning by establishing a relationship with learners and by organization of learning resources and the classroom learning environment including creating displays to encourage a positive learning environment.

  4. Develops and fosters appropriate skills and social abilities to enable the optimum development of learners, according to their ability and aptitude.

  5. Identifies and develops good working relationships with external Adult Education Programs and testing centers for RefuSHE participants who are pursuing Kenya Secondary Certification. Coordinate and monitor participants’ progress and attendance in the said programs

  6. Assesses and records progress and prepares learners for examination.

  7. Links leaners knowledge to earlier learning and develops ways to enrich it further, and challenge and inspire learners to help them deepen their knowledge and understanding.

  8. Maintains discipline in class. If and when a learner fails to attend class without notification, takes necessary action and reports to the Education Officer for immediate follow up

  9. Provides feedback to the Education Officer on learners progress during meetings

  10. Organizes and takes part in the Girls Empowerment Program (GEP) events, afternoon projects, field trips and any other activities that take place in the GEP.

  11. Completes enrollment and individual assessments for each participant.

  12. Maintains standardized and unit testing and evaluation schedule in the classroom by providing updated scores and evaluations to the Education Officer on a monthly basis/ as required.

  13. Actively participates in compiling and writing weekly and monthly reports on each participant enrolled, addressing their progress and evaluations of participant’s participation

  14. Effectively meets all program goals and targets while maintaining the highest of standards expected.

  15. Communicates immediately to the supervisor of any challenges that affect the quality of teaching in the classroom, or hinder meeting the project goals and outcomes in order that solutions are created and implemented in a timely manner.

  16. Strives to develop individual relationships with each participant and ensures that they have access to one on one communication when needed.


  17. Maintains strict confidentiality with regard to each participant served in any and all of RefuSHE’s Programs


  18. Attends staff meetings when requested and contributes feedback and ideas on how to




strengthen programs.




  1. Supports the GEP team with any other support if and when requested.



Qualifications:




  1. First Degree in Education with a Major in Language subjects.

  2. Diploma in special or adult education will be an added advantage.

  3. Fluent in English and Swahili

  4. Minimum of 2year experience in teaching multi-level classrooms in all the language subjects.

  5. Experience on teaching and knowledge on adult education curriculum

  6. Knowledge of refugee related issues in Kenya

  7. Well demonstrated skill in time management

  8. Proficient in Microsoft Office software and using internet

  9. Candidate must be flexible and able to work beyond class room times when necessary

  10. Excellent interpersonal skills

  11. Ability to work independently and with teams

  12. Must be highly organized, creative, detail oriented and work effectively under pressure with competing priorities
