Purpose of the NGO Vacancy
To support the Regional Director in enhancing organisational performance through country development and coordination to deliver quality programmes consistent with the aspirations of the AAI strategy.
The Regional Coordinator will provide the primary point of contact for countries and will help facilitate strategic cross functional support for the members in their region(s) in consultation with the Regional Director.
They will work with the Regional Director to ensure countries are provided with the leadership and management support necessary to strengthen country programmes, members and the federation drawing on the expertise of other units, directorates and countries within the federation.
Key responsibilities include but not limited to:
Coordination of cross functional and peer support to countries through the membership development processes based on agreed organisation health criteria.
Provide support, as required in the implementation of country expansion and affiliation plan, liaising closely with other internal stakeholders.
Support country leadership (CD, SMT and boards) to deliver their CSPs and fulfil their role in the federation leading cross functional support to countries, managing supply and demand of support between members and the secretariat, promoting cross country learning and support
Work collaboratively with the International Security Advisor and staff security focal persons in countries to ensure effective implementation of staff safety and security policy in all countries in the region.
Support the Regional Director in pro-active identification, analysis and resolution of disputes between and within countries and other parts of the federation in line with established policies
Facilitate the engagement of cross functional group in monitoring engagement of the IS with countries as agreed through the country engagement and planning process.
Foster and support the implementation of new ways of working in the federation leading by example and encouraging other team members.
Coordinate the planning, agenda setting and convening of regular CD meetings and other regional subgroups where relevant
Deputises and acts for the Regional Director while away or as delegated authority
Desired Skills & Experience
Graduate in any of the fields of social development, management, economic and organisational development.
Fluency in spoken and written English and knowledge of other language relevant to the context/ region and added advantage
At least 5 years development management experience preferably with experience in organisational development in federated organisations.
Proven knowledge, understanding and experience of working on international development issues
Excellent analytical, planning, information management, monitoring and evaluation skills and working with governance boards
Experience in people and change management, negotiation, analytical skills and depth in understanding causes of poverty and injustice, potential solutions and actors in the region
Appreciation and ability to work in a multi-cultural context
Ability to influence cross functionally both peers and other relations
