arche noVa – initiative for people in need is a religiously independent non-profit- and non-governmental organisation (NGO) based in Dresden/Germany working primarily in the field of humanitarian aid, rehabilitation and development. Our primary focus is Water and Sanitation. The organisation is based in Dresden, Germany.
arche noVa has been implementing projects in numerous African countries, both emergency and development projects mainly focusing on WASH. Regional Coordinator
The tasks of Regional Coordinator include project management, assessment of projects and local NGOs, monitoring, evaluation of ongoing and future projects as well as, communication and representation of arche noVa to the local authorities and stakeholders.
Job location: Kenya, Nairobi
Responsibilities:
- Coordination, monitoring and evaluation of arche noVa implemented projects in the region
- Close cooperation with and regular reporting to HQ of arche noVa
- Acquisition of new projects (WASH, DRR, Rural Development)
- Fundraising among local and international donors present in the region
- Support in strengthening arche noVas position in WASH and DRR-related fields in the project area
- Drafting of project proposals with local NGOs
- Representation of arche noVa to local communities, authorities and their counterparts, UN agencies and other non-governmental organizations promoting our goals, objectives and strategies
- Networking with regional WASH stakeholders, institutions, national and international NGOs and local authorities
- Providing the PR department in the HQ with the relevant material they need for the visibility of the projects and further fundraising
Requirements:
· A relevant College or University degree (Project Management, WASH, Social Sciences, or related)
· Fluency in English (German is an asset)
· Minimum of 3 years demonstrated experience in project management and cooperation with international NGOs and Donors
· Experience in working in the Region
· Experience in conducting project assessments for humanitarian aid and development projects
· Experience in assessment of organisations
· Experience in project assessment and coordination/ management
· Experience in writing project proposals incl. budgeting and monitoring of those projects
· Experience in working with NGOs/ civil society/ private agencies
· Ability to work in a team
· Willingness to travel in the region
· Ability to work under stress and meet deadlines
· Ability to work independently
· Already based in Nairobi/ Kenya (Kenyan nationality or residency)
Desirable:
- Experience with German donors
- Experience in conflict and crisis areas
Duration:6 months (possible extension)
