Business Development Manager (Sanitary & Plastic Piping Systems)

Location: Nairobi, Kenya
Our Client, a leading global manufacturer and distributor primarily of plastic fluid handling systems used in residential and commercial construction, as well as industrial and public infrastructure applications who will be responsible for calling on architects, Consulting Engineers, technical / purchasing directors of building companies, Government offices located within Kenya to develop specifications for company brands and create demand for sanitary systems (exposed & concealed cisterns and shower channels).
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Track new projects and visit architects, engineers, contracting companies, and ministries to increase the level of company specifications.
- Coordinate specification and sales opportunities with the local company distributor and assist them to secure orders with local contractors when appropriate.
- Train, educate and support local company distributors, as well as customers, as needed.
- Provide market intelligence to the company regarding competitor activity, market trends, building specific habits, large projects, new product ideas and new specifications to Marketing and Export Managers of the company.
- Collaborate regularly with the company’s Export Managers and local Management to achieve strategies and goals.
- Establish relationships with key company personnel from the supplying companies.
- Review company ranges and make recommendations for any necessary enhancements, range additions, literature amendments.
- Establish relationships with local distributors’ key personnel and key customers in Kenya.
- Identify and appoint, in coordination with the supplying unit export area sales managers, new local distributors for the ranges.
- Subject to satisfactory completion of the first objectives, to expand activities to the wider Eastern Africa with particular specification and sales objectives.
Requirements and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree is required, with preference given to those with a technical / engineering degree.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience, calling on distributors, contractors, projects, architects and engineers for plumbing & sanitary related products.
- Exceptional presentation and organizational skills.
- Good English language skills (written and spoken)
- Kenya Driving license
- Prior experience in the building sector, especially drainage and water supply plastic pipe (PE, PPR, PVC) systems or and sanitary systems (exposed & concealed cisterns and shower channels), is essential.
