Our client has an outstanding career opportunity for a Head of Retail Sales & Distribution to join their company. They are a leading internationally recognized design, manufacturing, marketing, sales and after sales Company of Solar Electricity (PV), water heating systems and street lighting. They recently received additional funding that will help in supporting their operations in Africa.

Job Purpose

Overall responsible for managing the company’s direct sales through its network of Business Development Executives who work with our partnering micro-finance institutions

Responsible for all retail sales through our branch network

Responsible for recruiting and managing franchisee partners to run our branches and for Business Development Executives

Manage a team of Business Development Executives

Must continuously grow the revenue per branch, while maintaining total control of receivables

Should ensure uniform adherence to the company’s standard operating procedures across all branches
Head of Retails Sales Key responsibilities

Overall management of the store including supervision of direct reporting staff; sales, customer service, merchandising and product management, promotions, sourcing, delivery and technical teams

Recruitment, training and management of a high performing team

Make decisions on store appearance, product visibility and ensure promotions are implemented in stores

Developing pricing, effective marketing and sales strategy

Identify and address staff development opportunities

Drive performance using sales and stock reports to identify opportunities.

Ensure company procedures are being followed in outlets

Marketing strategy and implementation, merchandising, sourcing and delivery of stock

Manage performance robustly using the business review processes, supported by an area succession plan.

Motivate, mentor and inform management teams with regular contact to include: store visits, calls, meetings and frequent updates.

Ensuring compliance of retail operations instructions, checking weekly communication documents and use of Store Visit Reports to measure findings.

Ensure shrinkage is managed, and health and safety compliance are adhered to.

Maintain a high level of customer service, monitor and identify training needs.

Ensure proper understanding and application of the company Disciplinary & Grievance processes, chairing hearings and appeals where appropriate.

Encourage a culture of training and development in the stores, ensuring full compliance of training calendar and attendance of training courses.

Check for customer’s feedback, take corrective actions and analysing the customer feedback report

Ensure the process of constantly measuring customer satisfaction and continuous improvement is in place.

Oversee the security of company assets including daily cash receipts

Overseeing management of stock level
Experience and skills required for Head of Retail Sales Job

At least 8 years of senior managerial experience in sales

Experience in managing and succeeding in direct sales a plus

Proven ability to manage a large field force over a dispersed geography Displays strong, clear training, communication and writing skills

A real self-starter, able to take initiative and operate independently

A leader who knows how to motivate and control a large team

Willing to travel extensively, including into rural areas

Can present himself / herself well and properly represent the company

MBA and engineering degrees both a plus.
