Presales Manager – Automotive Industry
Purpose of the Position: The Presales Director manages the Business Unit’s Presales Department and has a central role in defining and continuously refining the sales and marketing strategies of the company, in close cooperation with the Sales Department.
The Presales Director ensures that the sales force has the right support to sell trucks and buses.
The Presales Director is responsible for understanding customer needs and aligning the Business Unit’s product offerings to those needs.
In some Business Units, the ordering and logistics function is integrated in the presales function, due to the direct relationship with the sales force and integrated product issues like S-order and similar.
Marketing can also be part of the Presales Department as strong coordination between marketing and presales is necessary, since many marketing activities are related to our products.
Essential Duties and Role Responsibilities
- Market segmentation
- Continuously and systematically map the need for new products and performance steps on the market and communicate those to the company
- Product information to the sales force
- Important role in component pricing and pricing structure of trucks and buses
- Play a central role in negotiating prices with the company for trucks and buses
- Sales engineering
- Sales training (product)
- Sales support and quotation tools
- Market introductions
- Type approvals
Education and/or Experience
- Applicants with University Degree or Higher Diploma holders only.
- Relevant business knowledge and experience in a similar role
- Extensive sales and managerial experience preferably in the heavy vehicle or a related industry.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- A sound knowledge of the heavy truck and bus industry
- Effective negotiation and influencing skills
- A high level of analytical, innovation and business skills
- People management skills
- Clear understanding of management accounts
- Effective time management skills and ability to meet strict deadlines
- Ability to identify opportunities for business development
- Ability to take initiative and work under pressure
- Ability to build and manage key relationships
- General computer skills
- Fluent in English
