Twiga Foods is looking to recruit a Communications Officer with exceptional communication and people skills to join its vibrant and passionate team. 

The Communications Officer will manage communication programmes from concept through to delivery and evaluation, ensuring Twiga’s reputation and brand is enhanced internally & externally.

Twiga is a supplier of Fresh Fruit and Vegetables (FFV) to vendors in urban African markets. 

They provide their cashless B2B system to serve a distribution network of kiosks, small scale vendors, mama mbogas and more. 

 

Twiga’s goal is to make high-quality goods easily accessible to vendors at a more reasonable cost.

Reporting to the CEO, some of the tasks will include:

• Project planning and delivering external & internal communication    


• Writing a range of communication material, ensuring it is consistent, no grammatical errors, upbeat and fun to read and delivered in a timely fashion


• Working with Department Heads and Colleagues to develop clear messages and objectives to support the Company’s business communication plan


• Unifying all messages and communications around Twiga’s strategic plan to achieve positive awareness and brand alignment


• Representing Twiga at events, conferences, workshops, and awards


• Evaluating and reviewing opportunities to improve Twiga’s communication activities to ensure target audiences are being effectively reached


• Coordinating with management and updating of information on Twiga’s website & handling the company’s social media platforms


• Advising Department Heads and Colleagues on all aspects of communication as part of a joined up strategic corporate communications strategy including formats, tone of voice, marketing, website, and social media, etc


• Writing content for publications and newsletters, working closely with the designer on commissioning design and print

Deliverables:

• Monthly / quarterly internal publication to staff as agreed upon with the CEO


• Quarterly / bi-annually external publications to investors, VCs, media, etc as agreed upon with the CEO


• A calendar of activities and initiatives to be undertaken by the office of the CEO to improve visibility and communication

Required Qualifications:

• A bachelor’s degree in journalism, PR, marketing or a related field


• At least 2 years’ experience in a similar role producing media releases and conducting regular liaison with media organizations


• A readily available portfolio of previous comms work done, completed and published both externally and internally.


• Ability to work under tight time pressures and produce quality content


• An interest in social enterprises and making a difference, and willingness to learn and internalize the Twiga story
