Principal Accountant/ Finance Officer Job in Kenya


Job Title: PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTANT/
FINANCE OFFICER



Responsibilities




  • Reviewing and updating subsidiary ledgers and reconciling
    them to the general ledger;

  • Ensuring supplier and customer accounts are reconciled on
    monthly basis;

  • Ensuring proper Management of cash through implementation of
    controls;

  • Ensuring tax compliance in all operations;

  • Preparing annual financial statements;

  • Liaising with external/internal auditor on audit matters and
    acting on management letter;

  • Developing, implementing, and maintaining accounting
    policies, procedures, and controls;


  • Coordinating the preparation of year-end closing financial
    statements;

  • Maintaining book of debtors, debt accounts and monitor
    payments and update records and periodically reconcile their accounts;

  • Reviewing individual or commercial customer files to identify
    and select delinquent accounts for collection;

  • Advising Management on creditors that need to be written off
    as bad debts and or deal with liquidators and collection agencies; and

  • Preparing annual budgets and project budgets.



Qualifications



For appointment to this
grade, an officer must have:




  • At least eight (8) years working experience, three (3) years
    of which must have been in supervisory role;

  • Bachelor’s degree in Commerce (Accounting/Finance), Finance,
    Business Administration, Economics, or its equivalent qualification from a
    recognized institution;

  • Masters Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounts,
    Economics or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;

  • Member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of
    Kenya (ICPAK) and in good standing;

  • Management course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a
    recognized institution.

  • Proficiency in computer applications; and

  • Fulfilled the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution
    of Kenya.
