The Position:

To ensure that the needs of Emirates passengers are met in a caring, courteous and efficient manner. To provide assistance to Emirates passengers such as UMs/CIPs WHCR and Medical Cases in order to provide the personalised service they expect. Be involved in 'Queue Combing' in order to greet passengers, thereby ensuring that all have their documents ready and identify any problems which would otherwise cause delay at the check-in counter. To ensure passengers are adequately briefed and their needs satisfied during delays and disruptions. To assist as required with the pre and post flight work and will perform duties as directed by the Supervisor Airport Services or Senior Emirates Official on duty.

Experience and Qualifications:

High school level of education or equivalent. Minimum of 2 years experience in Airport Ground Handling Services and must have sound knowledge of Emirates route network and aircraft. Should have successfully completed the relevant professional training such as Passenger Services, Baggage Services, Cargo, Weight and Balance and Reservations and Ticketing. The job requires the candidate to work in a proactive manner and use initiative to resolve discrepancies and unforeseen problems using set guidelines. Computer literate.

Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) is the biggest Airport in East and Central Africa, and is the focal point for major aviation activity in the region. Its importance as an aviation centre makes it the pacesetter for other airports in the region.

In order for JKIA to achieve its vision of becoming the “Airport hub of Choice’ we are looking for an individual to fill the position of Airport Manager.

The jobholder will be required to provide leadership in order to facilitate development of innovative practices for enhancing business growth, customer experience, safety and security of passengers and airport users in line with the International Aviation Standards, recommended practices and the Strategic objectives of Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.

Main Responsibilities:

Develop and implement robust and strategic partnerships with airport stakeholders for effective and efficient delivery of airport services.Ensure achievement of strategic objectives of the organization.Participate in the development, implementation and review of the Airport Master Plan.Ensure serviceability of equipment, facilities and the infrastructure at all times.Develop and implement product and service delivery strategies in consultation with marketing and other stakeholders to meet customer needsPrepare, implement and monitor the Airport’s operating and Capital budgetsPrepare and implement Business Development Plans in consultation with marketing and other stakeholders to enhance growthManage and direct the implementation and compliance of civil aviation standards and recommended practices in facilitation, security and safety and other regulatory and statutory audits.Participate in the planning and implementation of capital investments and expansion programmesProvide leadership to department heads within the airport including motivating the workforce.Ensure the effective implementation, maintenance and sustainability of the Quality management system and customer service standards.Develop and monitor service level agreements with service providers and internal departments.Key Qualifications and Experience
A first degree in marketing, business administration, engineering, aviation, legal studies, humanities and social sciences or any other related studies.Masters degree from a recognized university with a bias towards strategic management, aviation related program or Business studiesMinimum 15 years experience ten (10) of which must have served at a senior management level as either Head of a department or a Business unit in a large sized commercial environment with customer service orientationComputer literacyApplicants are expected to be of “High Integrity and no criminal record”

Scope of Duties and Responsibilities

I. Financial & Commercial Perspective
Contribute to establishing the annual budget and monitor expenditures

Ensure that operational procedures are established, implemented and maintained
Ensure that operational processes are carried out in accordance with contractual agreement with customer airlines

Set and maintain quality standards (incl ISO 9001)
Organizational Leadership, Learning & Development
