Who we are looking for:



inSupply seeks to recruit individuals who are passionate, knowledgeable and experienced administrative work and have basic financial skills. The company is looking for people who are excited about the opportunity to work improving public health supply chains in East Africa. The successful candidate’s assignment will involve office management, support in procurement, Logistics and travel arrangements and other administrative work.



Responsibilities (not limited to the following):



▪ Organizing meetings, conferences and other office events, taking minutes during meetings and distributing them efficiently to concerned members.



▪ Organizing travel arrangements for both local and international Staff-Flight bookings, Hotel Bookings and Ground transportation.



▪ Facility management, telecommunications, general maintenance/repairs, central services, mailroom operations, central filing, telephone/public reception



▪ Getting quotations, negotiating and procuring goods (Logistics and IT) and any other purchases needed for Kenya office and supporting any other JSI office.



▪ Provide local costs inputs for budget proposals.



▪ Draft RFPs and Contracts for goods and services providers.



▪ Accounting for usage and regular supplies of stationery, fuel, motor vehicles etc.; and coordinate drivers’ activities.



▪ Maintaining the accounts for all suppliers and efficient processing of supplier invoices and ensuring that suppliers are promptly paid.



▪ Managing office asset inventory and maintain the inventory list up-to-date.



Essential skills and Qualifications:



● Kenyan national with fluency in English and Swahili required;



● Bachelors degree in Business Administration or other relevant field of study from a recognized university or college.



● Efficiency with use of (Microsoft Office; Word, Excel and PowerPoint) is essential.



● At least 3 years’ proven experience in as an administrative, procurement and operations role.

Background:**



CRS, with partners Lumos and Maestral International, will work closely with Department of Children Services (DCS) and other care reform actors to implement programming and interventions to support care reform in Kenya. Kenya has been selected as one of three countries, together with the Republic of Moldova and Guatemala, to implement the initial phase of Changing the Way We Care (CTWWC) initiative. CTWWC is an initiative that aims to leverage existing strengths and efforts of key stakeholders as well as address identified gaps to move Kenya away from reliance on residential care facilities and towards stronger family-based care



Job Summary:**



Reporting to the County Team Leader, the Positive Parenting (parenting and positive discipline) and Life-skills Officer will monitor and report on all CTWWC county-level activities related to positive parenting and life-skills in support of Catholic Relief Services’ (CRS) work serving the poor and vulnerable. You will provide leadership, training, and technical support to local implementing partners/institutions/CCIs, caregivers and young people to ensure roll-out of the positive parenting and life-skills sessions at community level. You will be expected to utilize a service oriented, participatory and strengths-based approach and ensure CTWWC consistently applies recognized and evidence based practices, regularly reviews and gathers lessons on emerging innovations on PP/LS to ensure that parents, caregivers and young people are receiving critical skills and information resulting in sustainable positive parenting and life-skills practices, and that they are regularly, adequately and respectfully engaged in all processes of CTWWC.



The position will work closely with the Case Management and Reintegration Officer to ensure that aspects of positive parenting and life-skills are central to the case management process, care plans, service referrals/delivery and monitoring of care plans – and all social work with families, young people and children.



Specific Responsibilities:**



· Support the coordination, implementation, monitoring and reporting of all parenting and life-skills activities outlined in the CTWWC detailed implementation plan in line with CTWWC program quality principles and standards, program requirements, and recognized good, and evidence-based practices.



· Promote engagement in positive parent/child relationships especially for Children and young people



· Ensure that local implementing partners/institutions/CCIs, CTWWC staff have the knowledge and skills to successfully deliver positive parenting and life-skills sessions/fora, through trainings, supportive supervision, coaching and mentorship.



· Contribute to the adoption of existing standardized tools, approaches and training curricula to ensure active engagement of children, young people and families engaged in the process.



· Support and engage in regular meetings, trainings, roll out and dissemination of updated guidance, Standard Operation Procedures (SOPs), tools, training curricula or job aids that support DCS, National Council of Children Services (NCCs), CCIs and other partners to improve positive parenting and young people engagement initiatives.



· Build and maintain mutual and productive relationship with relevant government departments like DCS, Department of young people affairs, County department of gender and social development, Ministry of education (ECDE), county government and other related partners to create partnership opportunities for CTWWC parenting and young people engagement beneficiaries



· Work closely with the Department of Children Services, Ministry of Education and other like-minded partners to engage parents and provide referrals when necessary for participation in parenting groups, child protection structures and other structures as will be defined using internationally recognized positive parenting standard tools, child safeguarding and jobs aids.



· Ensure accurate and timely reporting of all assigned project activities as per donor and CRS standards and established schedules.



Typical Background, Experience & Requirements:



Education and Knowledge




  • Bachelor’s degree in one of the following disciplines: public health, education, social sciences, international development or another related field. Master’s degree will be added advantage


  • At least 4 years’ experience in care reforms, positive parenting, young people engagement or community empowerment programs or in related fields


  • Experience in positive parenting, children/young people engagement design, assessment, implementation, monitoring, evaluation and reporting.


  • Experience working in both high level as well as community settings preferably in young people engagement, care reforms and/or child protection initiatives


  • Ability to conduct training/facilitation with adults, children/young peoples and provide technical assistance and mentoring to the CCIs, partners, government and local implementing partners.


  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to manage complex and sensitive organizational relationships particularly between DCS, CCIs and/or community-based providers of social services.

  • Strong knowledge of social service and child protection sector in Kenya.

  • Critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills with ability to make sound judgment.

  • Strong writing skills in professional English, level of proficiency should allow the candidate to serve as primary author of high-quality written reports to donors with minimal revision.

Required/Desired Foreign Language: Able to clearly communicate in written and spoken English and Kiswahili; sign language is added advantage.

Practical Action is seeking the services of a consultant to undertake a comprehensive assessment and review of the existing County (Kisumu) & National policies and guidelines on Water, Sanitation & Hygiene (WASH) with a view to developing clear and conclusive policy recommendations on WASH financing and innovative models for behavior change on hygiene promotion among the under-fives. The consultant will undertake desk reviews of WASH policies nationally and by extension, in Kisumu County, hold meetings with Key stakeholders in the County and the national level identify policies and guidelines for review, identify and propose new changes/ amendments to the policies.



The consultant will work with Practical Action, Kisumu Urban Apostolate Programme (KUAP) and Kisumu County Government (Public Health Department, Water & Environment, Early Childhood Education) during the whole process of desk review, consultations and key meetings with stakeholders.



The key tasks for this consultancy that would ensure that the consultant(s)/firm will achieve the above will be to:




  1. Develop an inception report clearly demonstrating full understanding of the TOR, proposed methodology and relevant instruments to achieve the objectives the policy review.

  2. Develop relevant tools for data collection i.e Key informant interview, focus group discussions among others.

  3. Conduct desk review to identify and appraise existing national and county WASH policy frameworks and legislations. With the support of Practical Action and KUAP staff the consultants will identify and interview key stakeholders including representatives from the County government

  4. Field work: The policy review will involve field visits/ interviews with ECD Center managers and health facility in charges in Nyalenda A, Nyalenda B and Obunga. The Consultant will also hold stakeholder meetings with key partners. The use of participatory tools for data collection and analysis is highly recommended. These will be discussed and agreed upon between the consulting firm and Practical Action.

  5. Facilitate a one-day consultative workshop for the key WASH stakeholders within Kisumu County

The Business Development Unit is part of the programme section and provides oversight, coordination, systems, support and advice to the organisation regarding business development and programme growth in line with the organisation’s vision, mission and strategic priorities and in a manner consistent with its values.



Job Purpose



As a key member of the Senior Management Team, the Business Development Director provides overall leadership and management of Amref Health Africa Business Development efforts and contributes to the overall strategic direction and growth planning for the organization. S/he provides leadership in the development, management, and quality assurance of business development from capture through proposal submission, executing successful fund development and financial growth strategies and securing annual and multi-year funding from key donors such as USG, other bi-laterals, multilaterals, foundations and other funding streams.



The Director positions Amref Health Africa as a preferred partner in the organization’s priority areas of impact. This includes, but is not limited to building strategic collaborations with key partners and networks, as well as leveraging existing and new donor funding opportunities that results in annual growth for the organisation.



Key Responsibilities



Technical leadership and management:



· Provide oversight and coordination of the business development function across Amref Health Africa.



· Facilitate and promote a vibrant core Africa Business Development team, which include the BD managers in the country offices in Africa.



· Nurture a culture of learning and sharing through establishing and facilitating a global Business Development team



· Lead negotiations with major partners in relation to funding opportunities especially from USG

BD implementation:



· Lead networking and gathering of intelligence with global partners



· Negotiate partnership and work directly with Amref Health Country Offices to build and strengthen these relationships

· Coordinate multi-country business development opportunities across Amref offices in Africa, Europe and North America
